Hey guys. I'll double check new updates soon.

Quick question: Anyone knows how many months does it take to get a green card for your parents after getting your own citizenship? I assume it's a fairly quick process right? What about brothers? That probably takes years.

Done today - 05/09/14! It's been a long journey... that I was more than ready to be done with it...

N-400: (Eligibility criteria: 5 years) - took 4 months, 27 days (148 days)
12-13-13: Eligibility Date
12-13-13: Application Sent

12-17-13: Received/Priority Date
12-19-13: NOA Date
12-20-13: Check Cashed
01-02-14: Bio Letter Sent Date (long time... not a good idea to send application before holidays...)

01-07-14: Bio Letter Rcvd'
01-20-14: Original Bio Date -- duh. they booked me on a Federal Holiday and the center was... closed.
03-07-14: Actual Bio Date
(walk-in)

03-11-14: In line for Interview

03-12-14: Interview letter
04-17-14: Interview - Passed. Phew!

04-23-14: Oath Ceremony queue | scheduled (both at the same day)

04-26-14: Got Oath Ceremony letter in mail

05-09-14: (Friday) Oath Ceremony. Done! + Applied for US Passport Book & US Passport Card (expedited)

05-23-14: (Friday) American Passport Book received (via Priority Mail) after 2 weeks

05-27-14: Received back original Naturalization Certificate + American Passport Card in the mail (weirdly did not receive USPS tracking notifications for that)

Officially D-O-N-E!

N-400: 05-09-2014

I-751: 10-21-2011

AOS from H1B: 03-13-2009

To be honest I had no idea that they don't even bother to put you on line to schedule the interview until is really close to the eligibility date is so disappointing because mine is en march so having to wait almost 3 months just to know the to date is like ughhhh that explains a lot though because a friend of mine who was way pass the legibility date his process moved way faster than anyone else I know... By the way my check was cashed today I'm writing from my phone so is hard to update the time line from here I read that someone said that they might be able to see the number on the check but in my case since it was a personal check the money was taken from the account so no picture there I guess I just have to wait now happy holidays!!!

I'm ready to send my N-400 application, but I have a question. When the instructions say about sending copy of the inside of the cover of my wife's passport (applying under 3 years permanent resident rule - u.s. citizen wife), it means the page where her photo and all her information appears?

Thanks for your cooperation.

yes the information page, the one that has the picture . What I sent is a copy of her birth certificate instead of her passport.

Hello Missicy,

I am glad to see you here. My immigration story is crazy, complicated, it will shock you a little. I think, that is one of the reason it I was one of the last one in completing my ROC.

It is not a typo, I became a conditional residence back on 01/2001. In September of that year, we all know what happened, after the terrorist attacks immigration process came to an screeching halt, and the ROC of my condition took almost five years. Back then, the FBI background checks will take anywhere from 24 to 36 months or more sad.png. it was the biggest bottleneck ever. From 2002 to 2008 immigration backgrounds checks were insanely and justifiably slow. the FBI needed to do their job, I understood this, and never complaint about the delays on my ROC. The attacks of 9/11/2001 changed everything, my lost, or waiting for the ROC was nothing compare to the pain and suffering of millions here in America, it was a horrible time for all of us, and someway or another we all, were affected. By the time, I was called for the interview on my ROC, I had already file for divorce, because of two many problems with my ex wife. I made a huge mistake, and did not change the application to a waiver. Thus, in 2006 my I-751 was denied, and nothing ever happened since then, no removal proceedings, no deportation, nothing. I was in legal limbo, out of status, but continue to work and live here, somehow.

Thus, I went to see other lawyers since, but got really bad advice, it was until late 2012 when a very good lawyer convinced me to review my case again, and went to back all the way to 2001, and re-apply for the I-751 as a waiver ( I-751 applications have not time limitations). On April 2013 I re-applied, and got approved just couple of weeks ago, but my green card is back date to 1/2001, making it my original date of eligibility.

This is just a summary, in order to give you and idea, there are many more details to this story, but in general this is what happened.

Now, I am trying to complete the process, and finally become a US Citizen.

have a good day.

I still believe early walk ins do speed up the process. They are needed for your background check. Either to start it or to search another database but either way the sooner they receive them the sooner they can complete the background check and schedule an interview. What is confusing people is that it will not speed anything up if you haven't reached your eligibility date. But if you are near or passed it then the sooner it's done the faster the interview.

Thanks... Interesting that it would be quicker to do it being a tourist...

Yeah for brothers 21+ it takes years just don't know how many.

My sister petitioned my our mother and it took 5 months total. But mom was in the country. It takes longer if outside of the country. In the country you just apply for AOS.

For siblings is another story, it may take up to 10 years.
