Hi guys,

I am a Pakistani national (although never lived there). I was granted a F-1 visa in 2007, however it took several months to complete administrative processing which hampered my plans to attend the college and I was compelled into a gap year. I ended up enrolling the next semester. Unfortunately, due to family problems and tragedies which affected my studies, I took a leave of absence for 1.5 years. I am hoping to return for the Spring 2014 session as soon as the visa documents arrive from my uni (they are very receptive to me coming back and I stayed in touch with them throughout). I am in the UK right now continuing studies and my family situation is much improved. I, obviously, really want to finish my education in the States that I started at a college I love. To be honest, Britain doesn't compare to the collegiate atmosphere of the States.

My question was, assuming I am hopefully successful in the initial stage of the process, is it faster to go through the visa 'administrative processing' phase when applying for a second time? I followed all the rules and regulations of my first student visa.

I just really want to able to start in Spring 2014 and not have to wait till the summer.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

It seems to make no difference.

Difficult to determine time lines.

Well, that sucks. :( Am I pretty much guaranteed the same wait as last time? My visa only expired in April of this year.

dear rarrar,

Im in almost the same situation as you. Applied for j1 on may31 for fall session at ucb. subjected to AP n missed fall. Embassy emailed on sep 25 saying visa was ready to be issued but needed new ds2019 or i20 form. Now I want to know whether what happened afterwards is standard procedure or it can be avoided in future...

the embassy, instead of waiting for ds2019 'closed' my case and returned passport.. i received ds2019 a2 months later and was asked to appear fr interview again on nov 25 for spring session(jan 2014). i had new ds form with me bt again subjected to ap n waiting..

now this cud jeopardise my award, im sick of the freakin wait. tell me, if, after the embassy or my case status shows AP is over, can i ask them to hold on n wait for NEW ds form for fall...?!
