Hello,

I just sent out my i 485 via USPS... I was looking at processing times online and I am a bit confused...

For the Chicago Lockbox it is says "5.8 month" wait time... I don't get whether that is the OVERALL wait time for the green card, OR the wait time before it is sent to a service centre such as California?

I guess I just need a bit of hope...

I also called USCIS the other day because I did not have a duplicate of my I129F, and filed form I 824 to get another one...and she assured me if I send my Notice of Action that I filled for a duplicate that I could attach that to my I 485 until my duplicate arrives, and it won't result in my rejected green card - anyone else have experience with this?

Thanks everyone!

The first place that you I-485 will go to is the Chicago Lockbox, then after they look it over and make sure that everything is there the I-485 makes its way to the NBC (National Benefits Center) where it is assigned a case number that starts with MSC. After that the NBC will decide whether or not the I-485 requires an interview or not. If it does they will send it to a Field Office. If not you may receive a letter that says "Potential Interview Waiver Case" if you are adjusting from a K-1. The GC could take anywhere from 4-12 months to receive. Usually 4 months with an interview. Anywhere from 5-12 months if you are a visa waiver case, although the waiver letter states that you could still have an interview.

I guess I just need a bit of hope...

I hope this helps shed some light on the situation and that it gives you some hope.

Are you supposed to send in a copy of the I-129F form whwn you file for AOS? I thought you just needed to send a copy of the NOA2. Can someone clarify?

Thanks for your response what is a visa waiver case?

Only about 50% of those adjusting from a K-1 get an interview. It is possible for you to be an interview waiver case, whereas you will not have an interview and your green card will be approved without one.

You only need a copy of your NOA2 I-129F approval notice.

Yup that's true, I never received one in the mail and had to apply for a stupid $400 form. As if we haven't spent enough already lol.

Hey, I sent in my green card without it, per advice from someone at the USCIS hotline...they told me they would just put my case on hold until I do send it in...does this sound accurate? or did I trust the wrong person

With the NOA2 missing, yes, it is possible that they would just send you an RFE for it. Your case would be on hold until you responded to the RFE with the required documentation.

Ok thank you, was I supposed to send my vaccinations? I kind of didn't... I feel like a complete idiot now. Like I've done everything wrong.

If your DS-3025 was filled out properly and you had all the required vaccinations at the time of your medical, then you may not need to see a civil surgeon for the I-693. You will just have to wait and see if you get an RFE for it, See this post for more info > http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/428381-i-693-report-of-medical-examination-and-vaccination-report/?p=6206232

Thanks I read it. I have all of the proper paperwork but didn't send it in with my darn application. Would t be best to wait for an RFE or send it as soon as possible?

Your original DS-3025 is in your case file with the rest of your medical forms. It was included in the sealed envelope with the rest of your case file papers that you turned it at your POE. Wait. Don't send anything unless you get an RFE asking for it.
