Hi everyone,

My wife and I were married over the weekend and are looking to file the AoS.

Is this up-to-date and correct for the next step we need to take? : http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Regarding the translation of supporting documents i.e. birth certificate, does this need to be done by a "certified translator" if that's even a thing. My fiance fluently speaks 5 languages (english and italian included) so she could do the translations herself.

Any help on what the next steps are would be appreciated! thanks!

Your wife can translate her documents herself. Make sure she includes the Certification by Translator (http://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-and-fees/general-tips-assembling-applications-mailing):

  • Please submit certified translations for all foreign language documents. The translator must certify that s/he is competent to translate and that the translation is accurate.

The certification format should include the certifier's name, signature, address, and date of certification. A suggested format is:

    Certification by Translator

I [typed name], certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and ________ languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled ______________________________.

    Signature_________________________________
    Date Typed Name
    Address

Everything is up to date except the part about the front and back of the I-94. They are automated now ,so you just need to send in a printout of your I-94 info that receive from here > https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html

Anyone that is fluent in both languages can do the translation. Just be sure to include the certification by translator, that a+j posted, on the translated document
