DS-230 or DS-156?

Which type of visa does my wife has to apply for, DS-230 or DS-156?

Does the $385 fee for DS-230 has to be paid at the time of the interview in the consulate?, or is it paid previously?

Need guidance.

Please refer to the guides:

DS-230 and DS-156 are both used for K type visas, the visa is a Non-Immigrant visa with Immigrant intent.

DS-230 will be in packet 3 and DS-156 will be in packet 4.

Is your question in regard to the K-3 only (both forms are required at consulate stage) and only the non-immigrant fee is paid, or are you asking about the K-3 and CR-1 where the DS-230 is required to be paid ($385) and the form submitted at NVC stage????
