Does a 'late registered BC or DC' automatically go into AR/AP investigation by the Fraud Unit ?

Does anyone know what else would make the applicant of a K1 ineligible ?

Health check was fine.

No additional relationship proof request.

BC is late registered, also death cert. of late wife.

We can't figure out why this email from embassy after my inquiry of why visa was not approved. A general answer about verifying his eligibility but no specific answer as

to investigating what .....I want to know what exactly they are verifying.

Dear.............

In order to proceed with Mr. ...... application, this office must confirm his eligibility

for that visa. We will contact him if we need additional information or if we need to

conduct an additional interview.

Until we have completed this verification process we can't move forward with the visa

application.

As each case is unique, we can't predict how long the verification process will take.

Sounds like they are verifying if the Birth certificate and/or death certificate is valid. Eligibility for a K-1 states that you must be free to marry. So for people that are divorced or had a spose that died, that needs to be "proven". At some Consulates, the presentation of a Divorce decree or a death certificate is all that's needed - no extra investigation necessary. But this could also be what is "normal" when the Consulate considers their cases to have a high level of fraud. Just provide them with what they ask for (if anything) and try to hang in there.
