There was a column in the Houston Chronicle Wednesday or Tuesday (by Lisa Falkenberg) that featured an interview with Dave Wilson and his explanation. I've tried searching the infernal www.chron.com website for a link to the column; after 20 fruitless minutes, it appears that one must be a digital subscriber to have access to that column. If someone here is, they can find that column and post a link or the entire article. That should save a lot of speculation.

One piece of literature even declared that he had been "endorsed by Ron Wilson" - stating only in the small-print that this referred to the candidate's cousin in Iowa, rather than a popular local black politician with the same name.

Folks were mad he misled them, not because he wasn't black. If he had the interest of the people at heart, he wouldn't have been compelled to lie.
