My CR1 visa application has been pending under section 221(g) administrative processing for 1 year. I checked my case status recently on https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/, and it says the following:

Expiring Soon
Immigrant Visa Case Number: BMB2012XXXXXXX Case Creation Date: 23-May-2012 Status Updated Date: 07-Nov-2013 "Section 203(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act requires that your registration be canceled and any petition approved on your behalf canceled, if you do not apply for your immigrant visa within one year of being advised to do so.

You were advised of this requirement over 1 year ago, but we have not received a response from you since then. As a result, your application for a visa has been canceled and any petition approved on your behalf has also been canceled.
"

Please help me understand this. Why does the status say no immigrant visa has been applied for when I had my visa interview in November 2012, and the case is on admin processing? What action is needed from my side to keep the application current?

I think you need to contact the Embassy/Consulate asap. Has it been a year since your last contact? If so, that could be the reason you are getting this message. As I understand it, if you don't contact them for a full year, even if it is in Administrative Processing, they assume you have abandoned your visa. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable about this will tell you what other steps you may need to take.

Thanks for responding. The Mumbai Consultate only provides the USTravelDocs email ID as the contact info. I email them every month. And in April 2013, I sent the consulate additonal documentation they requested at my interview. On top of that, my spouse's congressman's office writes to the consultate every month to inquire about my AP's progress. So certainly, isnt a case of going A.W.O.L!

Hi, I actually have the same message you posted. I posted a shortened version for brevity. So you're saying despite you going for a 2nd interview 1 year after your initial one, the status says 'expiring soon'? From reaching other threads, it sounds like it may be a false alarm. I'm having the congressman's rep confirm with the consulate directly.
