We

that's the rub, right there.
but - what she did in the USA, moments ago, wasn't 'the marriage' - the marriage was some time ago....

I don't think if she can plan so many things, she doesn't know that it'll be very difficult for her to do ROC if she gets divorced.

especially when they have been married for 2 years>> but not living together, right?

(waiting time for her passport +gc process) >> What do you mean by 'waiting time for her passport'?

You know Some link is missing here...well I guess best suggestion here is to " move on..."

Well she didnt have a passport and plus she was pursuing her final year of education, so it took her a year and a half after the marriage to come to the US.

So they got married in about Nov 2011 after which they applied for her passport and then her GC. This process took a while, thus they were basically communicating via phone and skype till she came to the US.

Hi all,

This forum has been extremely helpful for me in pursuing my GC.

My friend (US citizen) had married a girl from india about 1.5 years ago, since she was studying and without a passport, she just recently came to the US.

Once arriving to the US, she got a 2 year visa/GC. The day after she received the visa/gc she said she wants a divorce. According to us, this is surely a scam and we would like to do whatever we can such that she is not given a US green card. Is there anything we can do as i feel very bad for my friend who has been under depression since this has happened.

Thank you very much to all of you for all your help.

Report to USCIS. Maybe his wife got CR1 visa and its valid only for 2 years. but 3 months before her visa expired, she will need to file removing conditions. or IR1 and she can only do that if she still married to your friend. if she failed to apply/renew new visa, she will deported back to her country. my advice...report her to the authorities.

My friends father has already done that, but 2 years is enough time for her to find someone else. I was just wondering if there other way to cancell her 2 year visa sooner.

Thanks for ur input.

Really?

If you put an immigration attorney behind it, and hire an investigator (or use the one he has on file), money can do anything.

Definitely money can do anything !! But there won't be bigger stupidity that hiring attorney+investigator just b'cos you don't want to help somebody but to get someone deported.

There so many better things to do with money sleepy.gif

@Sidp: Why don't you suggest your friend (or yourself) this thing?

His parents are giving her $10K for whatever. IMHO for that amount I would have gone with the attorney and tried to get her out of the country.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

FYI ICE is the one that deports, not a lawyer or investigator.

I agree. When you know for a fact that someone took advantage of you, they deserve to be brought to justice.
