Hello, I am really confused. All of the NVC advice on this forum say that you can call NVC and input your UCSIS receipt number to get your NVC case number, however I just called them and they connected me to a live person without asking for my receipt number. When I asked the person for my case number she told me I cant ask for it until I have my NOA2 in hand from the regular snail mail. Whats up with that?

USCIS

April 9, 2013: NOA 1

Nov. 18: Transferred to Texas

Dec 9: NOA 2

Dec 17: NOA 2 Hard Copy

NVC

Jan 17, 2014: Case received by NVC

Feb. 25: NVC Case# Received

Feb 28: DS-261 Submitted

March 3: AOS Bill Invoiced & Paid

March 6: AOS Bill showing paid

March 6: AOS Packet sent EP (I did not know at the time but 3 attachments were JPEG's, only PDF's are accepted)

March 12: EP enrollment confirmation received

March 13: Resent AOS packet email as I am confused if they received original since EP enrollment confirmation was received by me after AOS was sent.

March 14: Resent AOS packet as I realized previous two packets had JPEG's in them. This is my first correct packet with all PDF's.

March 17: Resent AOS packet for the 4th time with all PDF's and finally got a confirmation of receipt. This one was the only one sent during "business hours"

March 20: IV Bill Invoiced & Paid

March 24: IV Bill Shows Paid and DS260 Available online

March 25: Supervisor states AOS packet approved

March 27: DS260 & Supporting Documents submitted

April 18: False checklist for IV Packet

May 4: Checklist requesting proof of eligibility (passport or BC). Wrote a nasty note back with a passport attached since they already had both as its part of the IV Packet duh

May 13: NVC Approval Email

Embassy

May 16: Interview Scheduled June 25th

May 28: Medical Exam Completed

June 25: Interview Montreal

You need to wait to have your noa2 in hand, after you have your noa2 in hand wait 2 week to start to call to see if they have your case number.

Without receive your noa2 you arent going to have case number, after noa2 you need to wait for about 2 or more

Texas Service Center

Received NOA2 on November 21, 2013.

Today I received email and text message stating,

"On December 13, 2013, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.

For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations."

Starting to feel better now!

We received our NOA2 I-797 on November 21st. It also had an A number next to the beneficiary's name? Does that mean anything? I called the NVC and they said no, but they also seemed like they didn't want to say anything other than wait 8 weeks for us to receive your petition. I'm gathering from everyone that you really have to stay on top of these guys because there's alot of the left hand not aware of the right hand type of stuff.

I have learned that the "A" number has not real significance, until the beneficiary enters the airport immigration section in America. This number must be written on the I-90 card, then it is used on the adjustment of status documents.

Thanks for your replies!

Today marks 4 week since my NOA2 approval from CSC, so I decided to call the DOS and check in. I was shocked to get the CASE NUMBER from the DOS. I then called the NVC and also received my Invoice ID Number and Beneficiary ID number. The NVC was a bit more helpful at this stage with information. I was also told that my application had shipped to London today.

The CEAC tracking says "In transit". Can anyone tell me how I will know the embassy has the case, and when can we submit the DS 160?
