Hi everyone,

Just received our marriage certificate today, and I've started to translate it from Norwegian to English.

I was wondering if anyone have any feedback on the translation so far...?

(sorry for the poor quality, working on an 11" screen gives little room for photo-editing)

The top of the translated document says; "Translation of the document "Vigselsattest" from NORWEGIAN to ENGLISH"

November 7th 2014 - DS260 Available/Completed
November 7th 2014 - NVC Received AOS/IV Package - 60 day wait begin!
January 2nd 2015 - Case closed
January 16th 2015 - Interview letter (P4)
January 30th 2015 - Medical (Approved)

March 5th 2015 - Visa received, POE Fee paid.
March 7th 2015 - POE Portland, OR. (Review in timeline)

April 15th - USCIS Case number shows: Card is being produced (Case number from ELIS fee portal)
May 15th - Card not yet received, call USCIS and put in service request.
June 15th - Card still not received, call USCIS and put in another request.
June 17th - ELIS portal shows case re-opened, card being produced. Changed to Card Sent with USPS tracking number
June 18th - Card received!

I can't give you a feedback on the Norwegian, but as a general advice, I would recommend that you go to your local civil registry office and get an "International certificate of marriage". This will be in English and you wil need it later for a lot of things (like Social Security Administration, Bank accounts etc.) where the USCIS translation is not sufficient. And you can use it for USCIS, too.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

Hi Mark,

Yes that would indeed be the most practical, but unfortunately, we don't have such a thing in Norway for marriage certificates.

However, we do get most of our other documents in international format (birth certificate, police certificate, etc..).

hi my fiance was able to go to her icelandic embassy for norwegan to english translation, but since then we have foubnd a certified teranslation service .. ABS langage services in the US that might be able to get the Norwegian done relatively inexpensively
