F-1 Visa denied twice! Will that affect my K-1 Visa?

Hi VisaJourneys,

I have been denied a F-1 Student Visa twice two years ago. Now I’m concerned that this will affect my K-1 Visa. I assume the CO will ask me about my previous visa denials at the interview?

I was an AuPair in the U.S. from August 2009 until February 2011. In December 2010 I applied for a change of status from J-1 to F-1 with my host family as my sponsor for my study in the U.S. My application was approved in January 2011 after only 1 month of waiting. I attended school for the spring semester and went home to Germany in June 2011 to visit my family. To enter the states again I had to apply for a F-1 Visa in Germany and was denied. The first time I was denied in Berlin in July 2011, I got a blue paper saying that I was denied under (221)g. The CO who was interviewing me told me that I could come back if I can bring more evidence that I was not working for my former host family since I was not allowed to work as a international student. Unfortunately, I did not have a contract from their new nanny with me at that time. I decided to try again after obtaining that contract from my host family and went to the embassy in Frankfurt for my second interview in August 2011. The CO said he can not give me a visa under the circumstances that my host family was my sponsor and that I wanted to live with them. He also did not like the fact that they have four kids. He said that I was not qualified for this kind of visa and sent me home with no paper at all. We applied for the fiance visa this summer. Our K-1 petition was approved on October 3rd. My question is do you think I will have problems at the interview or even possibly get denied again because of my previous F-1 denials?

My fiance was refused 3 visitor visas in the year preceeding our K-1. He wanted to come visit and meet my family. It wasn't an issue. :)

Thanks. Did they ask him anything about the previous refusals at the interview though?

He didn't mention; we put it in his DS-260 paperwork, though; it asked if he had any previous refusals (or however it was worded) and we explained he had applied twice to see my family and once when I was in the hospital with end stage renal failure. He was denied bec we were truthful I was his fiancee and they thought he was a risk to overstay his visa. So we addressed it and I guess they were good with it; he didn't mention they brought it up again but so much is being thrown at you, you don't always think remember. :)
