A friend of my friend (confusing I know) is planning a trip to Sweden for the holidays with her long time boyfriend. I don't know her boyfriend but from what I've heard he was born in Sweden then moved to the US when he was in elementary/middle school.

I guess what I'm asking is, is there anything in particular for her to do if they plan to stay longer than just a week over the holidays like an extra couple weeks or so? Any paperwork to be filled out if they both plan to extend their trip to a month or more?

She has been freaking out cause she has never been to a different country and don't know the rules if there are certain things to know about.

If she's a US citizen she can enter the Schengen area (of which Sweden and most EU countries are a part of) for up to 90 days with no visa. Just her passport is fine.

If the boyfriend is still a Swedish citizen he can stay there for as long as he wants. Or up to 90 days if he's now American.
