Hello everyone,

I'm from Morocco and I'm about to join US military and this basically means I will lose Moroccan citizenship.

Most of my family still lives in Morocco. My question is: how will losing my Moroccan citizenship affect my family? Is there any risk that my parents will be treated differently if one of their children renounces their citizenship? Does anyone have personal experience with someone who has chosen to do this?

Thanks for your answers

Are you a US citizen? If not, losing your Moroccan citizenship would be a bad thing, as you technically would be stateless.

As far as Moroccan customs regarding your family, I have absolutely no clue.
