Help filling form DS-160

Hello everyone,

I have trouble filling the new DS-160 form online...

In the "previous US Travel Information" part, the last question is :

Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?
So I suppose I need to say "Yes" and say my fiancée did (I'm applying for a K-1 visa) it's probably a stupid question but I just want to be sure, I have a weird feeling about this question.
Just after, in the "US Point Of Contact" part, they ask for my contact in the US, it's my fiancée.
Then they ask her relationship to me but I can't see "FIANCEE" anywhere.
What should I put then? RELATIVE or US PETITIONER or OTHER ?
And I can't write my "place of birth" at the very beginning of the form!
The name of the city is just too long, they don't let me write everything...
Do you think it's going to be an issue?! I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem.
Thanks
Mike

The I-129f petition is not an immigrant petition. You don't become a US resident with the K-1 visa, you will have to apply for AOS after using the K-1 and getting married.

For you birth place, print the form, and write it by hand.

Okay thanks a lot for your answers!

For the birth place, I'm going to do as you said and write it by hand.

I'm not sure if it's going to change anything since the DS-160 form is 100% online.

But it's not my fault if there is not enough room to write the full name, I'm probably not the first one in that situation anyway.

Hi there,

The DS160 is an online form: the US Paris Embassy asks for the confirmation of the DS160 which is basically a printed page with your picture, your case number and a barcode which contains all your infos.

I would suggest you to submit the content of your application with your extra handwritten infos that cannot be contained online of your application with the DS160 confirmation page.

I answered no to this question because I understood: did someone in the past filed a petition on your behalf...

In the "previous US Travel Information" Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?

"US Point Of Contact" I answered "US Petitioner" who is my fiancé.

  • 2 months later...

I have a question to add, my fiancé has 3 kids who will most likely be following, so for the travel companion section does he put "yes" or "no" for the question " other persons traveling with You" as there is no "following to join" option here.

thanks!
