Get divorced and then (re-)engaged

I'm getting pretty fed up with this whole process, and was wondering if anyone had an idea what USCIS's reaction would be if my USC husband and I got divorced (we're both currently living abroad) and then got (re-)engaged and filed an I129F for me, seeing as those are being processed much faster. Obviously it'd be money down the drain for the I130 we currently have in the system, but I kinda like the idea of beating them at their own game...

No offense meant but this is perhaps the most ridiculous idea I've ever read on here. And there's been several.

None taken. Was just trying to think outside the (lock-)box ;-)

I agree. There is no way beating USCIS, since they are in no hurry and there is absolutly no consequences if the need a couple months more or less. I would just wait it out, it will be processed sometime.

It's amazing how many questions can be resolved with a 2 minute Google search...

I130's and I129f do a dance sometimes one leads sometimes the other. The risk you take is in the time you take getting divorced and reflling the lead would change and you will be on the slower path.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Beating them at their own game? Hmmm, It seems for me you will going to lose the game even without you playing it at a first place.

You can certainly try and let us know how it goes.

You have to remember though that USCIS has no particular interest in getting things done quickly for you, and seeing a divorce and intent to re-marry the same person in a short time frame might well cause longer delays than you've already had.

But hell, give it a go and report back so we can all know if you're that curious.

We all have our reasons for immigrating and wanting our love ones here. But the main reason I would think to immigrate is to be together and you are already doing that. Never have i heard someone want to do such a thing and they are together. I guess I am confused.

Do you really want to roll those dice and predict and guess you will get your I-129F fast fast? Go hang out with the K1 filers here and see the 7,8,9 and year long waiters.

One thing that has been documented and proven with I-130 and I-129F is LPR's and F2A's are getting approvals at lightening fast pace. So maybe denounce your citizenship and go that route might be better (okay my bad)

Try this file your I-129F now and see if a K3 comes out of it. That seems to be the new thing to do.

Why dont you just filed 129 while waiting for 130? You dont have to pay extra for 129, it ill just expedite your 130. Try that no harm in trying!

Look, this thing about K-1s being processed faster might be temporary, so....

You might do that....

And then find that suddenly all CR1/IR1 visas are being processed in three months and K-1's taking nine months...

Don't risk it.
