Where does it say that F2A will retrogress for all countries? DOS indicated that there will be no forward movement on F2A in the coming months(which to me means it will stay at the same level as today) for most countries (except mexico).

FAMILY-sponsored categories (potential monthly movement)

Worldwide dates:

F1: Three to five weeks

F2A: No forward movement, the Mexico cut-off date is likely to retrogress
at some point

F2B: Three to five weeks

F3: Three to five weeks

F4: Two or three weeks

Yea vkrishn,

I thnik Niraj is kinda lost.

I don't see anything bad for F2A.

Even I can bet January VB for F2A will be as this one advices.

BUt most interesting part in January one will be visa availability prediction for following months...

Yes there was no information available to predict retrogression in F2A for other countries, so overall the VB was positive. I just hope for the best for all in the coming months.

So since F2A is not moving, does that mean any application received in the following days or months will just collect dust until further notice?

- Feb 22 2020 - Mailed Application (I-130, I-845....) to Chicago

- April 22 2020 - NOA 1

- June 1 2020 - RFE for I-944

- June 24 2020 - Replied to RFE

- Oct 25 2020 - Fingerprint done

- Nov 9 2020 - Case ready to be scheduled for interview

Depends on whether you opted for AOS or CP.

If its CP: NVC will not process the case if your PD is not before the cut off date indicated in the VB when approved I-130 reaches NVC.

If its AOS: USCIS will process I-130 and I485 to a certain extent. Even if your I-130 gets approved, I 485 will not be approved (But could be Pre-adjudicated) until your PD is before the cut off date indicated in the VB.

Thank you for your effort, but would you mind explaining your points a bit clearly? I really don't understand some of the terms used here.

I think CP means: Consular Processing, right? And AOS: Adjustment in US. Thanks

AOS : Adjustment of Status. Applies when you file I130 and I485 concurrently assuming the beneficiary (Husband or wife for whom are you are filing is in the US legally on a Visa).

CP: Consular Processing. This is for people where husband or wife for whom you are petitioning is outside the U.S mostly in their home country.

PD: Priority date.

VB: Visa bulletin.

Sorry for the short forms i used in my previous post.

Thank you vkrishn. The December visa bulletin even predicts that the FB2A category will remain unmoved for some more months, so basically I will be looking at maybe February 2014 for a possible movement(forward or backward).

One question, what will happen to my application when it reaches NVC? Will they work on it or store it somewhere until the date becomes current?

This is from the DOS website.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1309.html

USCIS Sent My Immigrant Visa Petition to the NVC. Now What Happens?

If your Priority Date meets the most recent Qualifying Date, the NVC will:

  1. Invoice you for your visa application fees
  2. Collect your visa application and supporting documentation
  3. Hold your visa petition until an interview can be scheduled with a consular officer at a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate General abroad.

If your Priority Date DOES NOT meet the most recent Qualifying Date, the NVC will notify you and hold your petition until your Priority Date meets the most recent Qualifying Date. The Department of State updates the Qualifying Dates on a monthly basis.

Hello vkrishn,

I believe the numerical limits FY 2014 were released yesterday or little earlier. Can you make any intelligent guesstimates about F2A category especially for India based on these numbers for say until March? Thanks in advance for your analysis.
