Continuous Residence Requirement

Hi! I'm a little confused as to these rules to naturalisation for a green card holder:

  • Have continuous residence in the United States as a green card holder for at least 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application
  • Be physically present in the United States for at least 30 months out of the 5 years immediately preceding the date of filing the application

I'm planning to work abroad in Dubai and the job rotation is 3 months/2 weeks. Basically, I'll be in Dubai for 3 months and I get 2 weeks vacation in the US. This arrangement will continue for 2 years. Here's the total:

  • 2 years in Dubai
  • 16 weeks vacation in the US, after which, I'll be staying in the US permanently

My question is, will I be breaking the continuous residence requirement? I won't be staying outside the US for more than 6 months continuously. My stay outside the US will only be 3 months maximum each, with 2 weeks of vacation in between.

Thank you.
