We just recieved a RFE asking for more "evidence if marital bona fides."

It lists examples such as:

-Copies of insurance policies *(we have none. I have health insurance because I have medications I am on but we couldn't afford it for him and my dad still techniqually owns our car so he's been nice enough to pay for the insurance until we can afford it.)

-copies of credit card statements *(We don't have credit cards, only debit cards but I sent them tons of those statements)

-Joint utility bills *(I am going to ask the companies again if we can get these in both of our names but this either wasn't an option before or I had heard on VJ that it wasn't counted as evidence)

-ETC...

I am in a big hurry right now because I am have to leave the house in minute, but if anyone has any ideas it would help a lot!

Thanks! (sorry if this was rushed! )

If your dad pays for your car insurance, it should at least have your husband's name on the policy as an added driver.

Where do you live currently? If you rent, lease or own, and your contract is in both your names, send them this. If you don't have a contract in your names, at least try to get an affidavit from a landlord that you both live there. Who pays the rent? Who pays the utilities? If you both pay, send evidence of this in the form of statements, checks etc. if you have separate accounts also.

What is, or isn't counted as evidence is a broad subject. Utility bills alone would not prove a bona fide marriage, but coupled with 10 other pieces of evidence it's a great bonus to a larger package.

As long as you answer the RFE, you will not be denied ROC without an interview. You can bring even more evidence to the interview so I would start working on that now.

Thank you for responding!

The car is still in my dad's name and we won't put it in our name's until we can afford the insurance. We have an apartment together and so we sent that lease agreement in our packet. I got the energy company to add his name to the bill so I should be able to send the next bill in our RFE response packet. I am going to try to get the internet company to do the same. But I am worried that sending them utility bills won't be enough.

*Okay I just reread the RFE and I think the issue might be that we lived with my parents for the first year of our marriage and therefore didn't have a lease for that. Also I might not have sent enough bank statements from the beginning of our marriage.

Here's the line that I missed before "However, the documentation submitted is insufficient because it does not show joint financial responsibility or joint residence throughout the length of the marriage."

So if I send a signed letter from my parents saying we lived with them and get the bank to write a letter saying when we started our account (a day after moving to the US) and that it's our only account, and that it's been active this whole time. Plus I'll include more (earlier) statements and the utility bills, will that be sufficient?
