Interview Scheduled!!

So today I got my letter telling me my interview date has been set for 26th November! I'm so happy and amazed, as I went for my medical on Tuesday (5th) and the letter was sent on the 4th apparently?? I was under the impression interviews weren't scheduled until medical results were recurved by the embassy? I'm not complaining though, I just can't believe how fast that's been done after seeing people say they waited for 6 weeks for a date. I must of got really lucky?

One question I have about the letter. It details about the courier service and about not bringing in electronics etc etc. But there are no instructions on what to bring. Is this normal? It's not a problem as I know what I need but I thought I'd see if that's what others letters were like.

Thanks everyone, I'm so excited! So close to getting to the end!

Also I'm unsure as to how I pay my MRV and courier fees? The link the letter has takes me to the immigrant Visa appointment service site. But to register and pay the fees it says I need to of completed ds160. I had already sent in the old paper forms to the embassy so I've never had to complete that. So I'm a bit unsure what I'm meant to do? Anyone been in the same situation or has any idea on what to do? Thanks.

Is there anyway you can scan your letter? I'm wondering if they changed it or you got some other version. The appointment letter used to direct you to find this link on the website by going to "visa forms" and opening IV19. It has the instructions for paying and the document link. Be sure and follow the payment steps exactly. Not starting with K1 and going to courier first puts you in the wrong part and gets you to steps for non immigrant visas like student and tourist. That may be how you got the DS-160 message.

Here's a link to the IV-19 interview document http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/IV019_fiance_appt_letter.pdf

If you can't follow the steps because you already went in the wrong way, you will have to start a new account with a different email address. It's clunky software.

My scanner is broken at the moment so I will type out what the letter says for you. Thanks for the link, but can I ask where on the page does it say apply for K visa? Does that become an option after registering? Anyway here is the letter:

U.S Embassy London is please to confirm your interview date (see below). Please refer to the Immigrant/Fiance(e) Visa Interview Checklist for detailed instructions.

(It then goes on to say about turning up for the interview half an hour early, showing security the letter etc and not to bring in any electronic devices).

If your application is successful, your documents will be returned to you via the Embassy's courier service. Visas are not issued on the day of the interview. To register with the courier:

1. Visit http://dld.bz/ivbook

2. Click "Register for Courier"

3. Fill in your details and click "Create Account"

4. Select "Add Applicant" and enter your information. When finished clock "Create Applicant." You will need to repeat this step for each member of your family who will be applying for an immigrant visa with you.

5. At the top of the screen, clock "Select Courier." Home delivery may be arranged (up until they day before your interview) for an additional fee of $30 per applicant.

(It then goes on to say to request a date change, send a request in writing, and how issuance of a visa is not guaranteed, if you need to contact the embassy quote your case number etc).

I hope this helps. I'm just curious as it does seem different to others letters and obviously it was sent before I even attended my medical. Also like I said I dont see an option anywhere to apply for a K visa, the DS160 confusion doesn't help either!

Thanks

This worries me, too, as I also applied before the DS-160 came into effect.

All the information I had read previously indicated that all the fees were paid on the day of the interview, but that seems to have changed with the DS-160's introduction, and now I'm in this inbetween phase where I can't do it either way.

I'd be interested to see if anyone has any insight.

If you looked at the IV-19 document, the instructions say

All fiancé visa applicants and their children who will be immigrating with them to the United States, are required to pay a non-refundable visa application fee of $240 per person, regardless of age. The fee MUST be paid before you attend the appointment.

The fee is paid by following these simple steps:

1. Visit http://dld.bz/ivbook and select Apply for a K Visa

2. Sign up for a user account

3. Select Add Applicant to provide information about yourself. Repeat this step for each person who will apply for a K visa with you.

4. Choose where you want your documents to be sent if your application is successful. Delivery to a regional center in the UK will not incur additional costs.

5. Pay the MRV fee of $240.00. Payment must be made by MasterCard or Visa debit card. Once you have paid the fee, you can request home delivery from the courier for a fee of $30 per applicant. If you wish to select home delivery, you can do so by returning to your profile once you have paid the fee. Please note that you can only select Home Delivery up until the day before your interview.

6. Confirm your facility (select U.S. Embassy London).

7. Please DO NOT submit any documents ahead of your interview. You should present all documents at the time of your appointment.

Sooooo...when I click that link today, it is a different page. It used to have 3 choices marked similar with those green arrow looking buttons. In order they were--

*Schedule courier

*Something about a boarding foil

*Pay for a K1 visa (when the website first started it said "Apply" for a K1 visa)

Note: the choices were before registering. See step 1 in those instructions I posted. Register was Step 2.

So it was kinda odd that it wasn't more intuitive and if you had to Pay first, then put the darn Pay button first. People who went to courier first, couldn't ever get back to pay.

I really don't know how to help because it looks like they keep tweaking the software because it was awkward with various visa types. I can't look further because I don't have an active case and can't register.

London has changed a lot in the last few months-- it started around July.

Fist it was pay online (with a version of this software) it was previously by phone

Then the courier part got bundled in. That was previously at the embassy after successful interview

Then they routed K1s to do online DS-260. Short lived (Sept 1- Oct 7)

Then it switched to online DS-160, which has always been the form for student, tourist, etc visas.

I think that's how a lot of K1s got into a part that said schedule your appointment because that is the procedure for the non-immigrant visas.

Early versions had the first choice of Immigrant or Non-immigrant. K1s had to pick immigrant. Did you have to make that choice when you registered? I can't really say what works today because they keep modifying it. I thought it was fixed when "pay for a K1 visa" was added as a choice. Now I don't see it on the first page. Sorry, I don't know what to tell you since I can't register and see the screens du Jour.

Report back if you find a way.

I also have this new version of the interview letter. I haven't had a chance to have a go at paying yet but I might give it a go tomorrow. I'll take some screen shots and report back.

Thanks for the replies guys, hopefully a clear way of doing this will pop up soon!

Ok, I'll keep having a look round too and let people know if I find anything. I'll keep an eye out to see how you do. It's crazy how confusing and badly explained some parts of this process are, there never seems to be one clear way of doing things!

OK I've just done it, it was actually quite straight forward. The instructions on the letter don't make sense at all (e.g. there is no option to click 'register for courier') from the main page, but if you just kind of follow it through it all works out. I took screen shots so I'll edit them and post them shortly.

UPDATE:

I figured out what the problem was. I had already registered incorrectly with the email address I wanted to use. I made a new email so I could change it on that registration and free up the email address I wanted to use again. When I went to the link the letter provided and registered again it came up with a drop down box. One of the options is "I need to register a "K" (fiance spouse/child) immigration visa appointment.

So all that confusion in reality was my doing really. Following the link on the letter works just fine, I was just being slightly dense...oops! Thank you for the help everyone!

I'm glad you got through it ok! I feel really stupid now haha. Good idea with the screenshots though as I agree the instructions on the letter dont match up perfectly.

Haha well it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for it to be the embassy's fault. Glad you got it sorted.

If anyone else is interested in the new process, this is what it looks like:
