Come to realize I never made a thread in here.

A bit about myself and my special lady, we've been together over 4 years now. Been here on VJ for a while, in fact our visa will be delivered tomorrow, and she will fly here next week. This place has been a mighty fine help, I'm not sure we would have known what to do all steps of the way otherwise.

We originally met on a fansite for an artist and musician. Around the time we met I had lost my job (one of the first casualties of the economy crash) so I found myself with an abundance of time and spent a lot of it involved in that community there, eventually becoming a moderator and then full owner of the official chat there, which is where we got to know each other. We'd talk a bit on there, and then a group of us started doing group video chats on www.stickam.com, and things just progressed. (Which is unfortunately no longer in service, goodbye fond memories there.)

Neither of us at the start was really looking for anything, things just kind of happened as they would. We were originally going to meet in Disney Land, as a group of people from the site were going to meet there, but with my unemployment I couldn't really afford it, so she came directly to me instead, and it was great, as have all our subsequent times together. We've both made a lot of sacrifices along the way to do what was best for being together in the long run, and it's all been worth it.

December 12th, 2013: Picked up marriage license.

December 14th, 2013: Wedding

That's a nice story, Michael. Thanks for posting it, belated though it is. Your literacy is refreshing. Glad that your process has been smooth and comparatively rapid, so far -- others are in pain from their wait.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Today's progress is the visa was delivered. She had the interview on the 1st, status on CEAC changes from Immigrant to Non-Immigrant on the 4th and given a new case creation date, and changed to Issued and in final processing on the 5th. Current plans are for her to fly here next Thursday.

To update, she arrived here as planned on the 14th. Everything has been great. We've spent quite a bit of money so far, (and another $1,800 or so pending at the moment) but the apartment that I found for us I moved into at the beginning of the month is really starting to come together and be ours.

We had Thanksgiving with my family as is usual, and my grandfather shut everyone up long enough to officially welcome her to the family.

We also went shopping for our wedding rings last weekend. She found something that she really liked so we had that ordered and they should have it in the store on the 6th. I found mine yesterday and ordered it, and it should be here on Monday or Tuesday.

There are no good pictures online of hers, but this is what I went with:

Today we went and got our first Christmas tree. It's a small one but very nice and perfect for the space we had for it.

Life is good.
