Hi, Jane. I see that we were both on the same page at the beginning (because I saw at the end of this thread that you and your husband have decided to take the CR-1 visa application route). As you can see in my signature, my husband and I are fairly new in the process, and we'd like to get as much information from both USCIS and people who've actually experienced going through the process of their visa application.

Would you recommend that we go the CR-1 visa application, too? At this stage, since we are still waiting for responses re: I-130 and I-129F petitions, is it still possible to switch decisions from K-3 to CR-1 visa application?

Your thoughts and opinion are much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jae

Hello Gorjaeous!

Sorry for the late response. Having trouble with my internet these days. Grrrr...

Anyways. about your question on the possibility of switching route from K3 to CR-1, I'm very sorry I do not know if that's possible. :(

BUT just like what everyone else here said, CR-1 is the recommended route these days because K3 is already obsolete and no longer processed.

Just like what you're seeing on my signature we got approve for only 5 months with CR-1. Others got aprove for only 4 months others 1 month. It is due to the expedite previlege given to us, Filipinos, by the U.S after Typhoon Yolanda.

I'm very sorry that's all I can give to you for now. BUT in case you're a regular Facebook User, I recommend you join a group in Facebook called "Asawa World" I am also a member in there. Just make sure to use a profile or a cover photo with you and your husband on it to coonfirm you're married to a USC, and for the admins to accept your request.

Here's the link for the group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/272323009467474/

Let me know if you're able to find it so I can help you out :) The beneficiaries in this group are all Filipinas. I noticed in your profile you're also a Filipina. Tama? :) They have been very helpful to me and my husband and it now has 2, 065 members as well.

Let me know if there's anything you want to know i'll do my best to help.

Thanks!

Jane

Hi, janelance143! Thanks for your response. As you can see in my signature, we're still at the initial stage of the process. We haven't applied for any visa, so I was asking if you would recommend that we apply for CR-1 instead of K-3 visa when I-130 petition has been approved. By the looks of it, we have about 4–6 months to decide on which route to take. Am I correct on this assumption?

Aww, we don't have Facebook account. And yes, I'm Filipino, too. smile.png

I will get in touch with you again if I find anything else that's confusing. This site's been helpful so far.

Best regards,

Jae
