Birth Certificate error?

OK so while I'm waiting for my NOA2 I sent off for a long form birth certificate as I'd seemingly never had one. When it arrived yesterday it had my dads middle name wrong- the name written is similar sounding so I guess whoever recorded the information misheard him. All of the other details are correct. Is this potentially a problem for me or is it nothing to worry about?

Well what are your options? Do you think you can easily modify your birth record?

I would go with what you have and talk your way through it if it even comes up.

My birth certificate also had a mistype on it - i noticed the day before my interview! Mine was at the bottom though, point 17;

17. name given after registration and surname - Nile #blah# #blah# by baptism 27th december 1927.

Should of been 1987, as i was only born then.

I didn't mention it, they didnt mention it, all was well.

Just my personal experience on monday

05/24/13 - 129F Sent
05/28/13 - USCIS Received

05/30/13 - NOA1

08/02/13 - USCIS UPDATE - RFE

08/08/13 - RFE Hard copy - New photos

08/10/13 - RFE sent back

08/19/13 - RFE received at USCIS
08/26/13 - NOA2
Sent to NVC supposedly, but took a while! And many convos with USCIS/NVC
10/10/13 - Received by NVC, Case number assigned
10/18/13 - Medical
10/18/13 - London receives case file
10/20/13 - DS-160 completed (didnt wait for packet 3, nor have i ever received)

10/21/13 - Online interview readiness form completed
10/22/13 - CEAC Update (Online readiness)

10/23/13 - CEAC Update (Medical Received)

10/23/13 - Visa Fee and courier fee's paid (Didn't wait for packet 4)

10/24/13 - Emails and online form submitted requesting speedy interview for medical reasons (complicated pregnancy). Supporting evidence provided

10/28/13 - CEAC Updated. Fiancee calls DoS.....Inteview!!!!!! 4th Nov

11/04/13 - Interview - APPROVED!!!

11/05/13 - CEAC Update - New case creation

11/07/13 - CEAC Update - Issued!

I've been reading how they require the "long" birth certificate...what exactly does that mean? I have one but how do I know if it meets the requirements?

It must have your parent's name on it. Some in the UK used a short-form for school purposes without the parent names. That won't do for immigration.

Thank you for your help once again. I have the correct one so I am happy about that! One more thing, do I need to bring a copy of my fiancees birth certificate too?

Thanks for your replies, I've seen how strict the requirements are in regards to other things and I needed a little reassurance! It could be a lot worse, I wonder if anyone has received their long form birth certificate to find their old milkman listed as their father!

I've got no less than four full-length birth certificates, because each time I requested one they made typos when they typed it up and had to give me another! One has a typo on my father's name, one on an address, one missed a field and the fourth is only correct because in the end they decided to (badly) scan the original certificate onto the paper. Yeesh.

There's that smell again...

I sent an original of my birth certificate to my fiance because I didn't include it in the 129F. I used my passport pages for that instead. I am not sure if that makes a difference to why some folks are asked for it and others are not. It also seemed easy enough to include in the other heap o' papers that I was sending over!

1/31/13 - 129F Sent
2/7/13 - NOA1
** transferred with 2nd group from VSC to TSC in late June
7/9/13 - NOA2 (5 months)
8/16/13 - Shipped from TSC
9/11/13 - Packet 3
9/19/13 - Forms sent in.
9/24/13 - Medical Done
9/27/13 - CEAC Status Update
10/02/13 - DS-260 mailed in
10/15/13 - CEAC Status Update (DoS couldn't say what triggered it, did say no interview assigned, but all docs are in)
10/23/13 - Embassy email states they do not have our documents. Poor Steven does 160 again.
10/23/13 - DoS says our case is still "processing" and not "qualified" (interview ready) and to do newest forms.
11/05/13 - CEAC Update. DoS says case is "eligible for interview" and we're waiting on next interview date.
11/08/13 - Another call to DoS (Chris is a nice guy!) and no interview scheduled yet.
11/12/13 - Another call to DoS and no interview scheduled yet.
11/13/13 - Email from Embassy to Steven informing him that his interview is TOMORROW.
Hurray for Patron Saint of Immigrants - Mother Cabrini's Feast Day!
11/14/13 - INTERVIEW --- APPROVED!!!!!
11/19 & 11/20 - CEAC date update, but still at "Ready".
11/21 - CEAC Creation Date & Notice Changed.
11/22 - CEAC AP
11/25 - CEAC ISSUED -- yay!!
11/27 - DoS Shipment Notice (email) in AM. Pickup ready email sent in PM.
11/28 - Steven picks up docs from Bridgend - Happy Thanksgiving!
12/15/13 - Arrival in US. POE: JFK. (Heathrow - JKF - Richmond, VA by evening)
Getting Married in January with small ceremony.
