Not true for every embassy. As we always say even for NVC. Transcripts are best no matter what leaves doubt out.

You still have time to order tax return transcripts - they're free: http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Order-a-Transcript

Yes I did order them a few days ago just to be safe. I should be getting them in about a week which still leaves plenty of time. I just think it's strange that if you have the full return why they would be requesting the tax transcript as well. I though the TT was just a supplement or subsitute for the return.

Oh well. Thanks guys for all the responses. We are anxiously awaiting the interview on the 26th!!

Like I mentioned before a Tax Return all filled out on Turbo tax or whatever is no proof you filed. Anyone can doctor up forms W2s (some have done this thus the reason many embassies want tax transcripts).

Tax Transcripts is from the IRS proof you filed and all the forms that were submitted, W2s all that. Just validates your evidence even more. For many of us like Jamaica and Nigeria and others you want to keep fraud out their minds.

Hubby's interview is in 3 weeks!! I only saved two boarding passes and this upcoming trip will make 14 trips to Jamaica to visit him. I want to be able to prove this sufficiently because i think it is a strong point for our case. I printed out all my flight itineraries and some hotel receipts and I have 50 photos of us. Should I also hand over my original passport to my hubby at the interview to show the CO? Or are photocopies of my stamps (excluding the last one) enough?

Also, someone said they will not accept tax returns but only tax transcripts. What's the difference? I never heard of this.

Sorry just getting VERY anxious here and am worrying about everything.

BethAnn

The tax transcript must be knew. We interviewed in May/2013 and all that was taken was my 2012 W2 and 2012 Federal/State Tax return. Regarding the passport, my hubby (then fiance) went in with my passport.

The tax transcripts is ajudgement call if a CO feels your tax returns are questionable they have been known to request you get tax transcripts submitting them up front at NVC just eliminates that. Not everyone has the issue some do some don't since we know tax transcripts are something immmigration would rather have why not just do it upfront is all i am saying.

Handing one's passport to the beneficiary to show to the CO is probably the biggest way to score the most positive points possible. Depending on the situation, you might even be invited into the interview.

Absolutely.

Wifey said tone of interview became even frendlier after she handed my passports over and the CO looked at each page of my two passports.

Gowon- I heard mixed things about the passport thing- I for one plan on giving my original passport to hubby- but some of my fellow Jamaica applicants have vehemently warned me against doing that- they said to just make photo copies. Oh well we shall see!!

I see. Well use your best judgement.

It's still an interview of the beneficiary. So handing over the applicants passport doesn't equate to an instant approval and its merely another level in the proving a bonafide scheme.
