I-130 November Filers

If august are getting a few of theirs that would be good right?! As aposed to like them being on May which is what I'm thinking... But we don't know what centers they're at. Mine went directly to nebraska (both I-130 and I-129f)

From reading back we all got lucky to get directly into a service center and not stuck at NBC like everyone else for a long time.

I really hope our times are going to be better. I'm praying for mid-late May.

For a number of reasons, we had no option but to choose Consular Processing.

I'd also be interested to know what other Canadians on here will be going through Vancouver - seems most of the contributors on here are through Montreal??

best of luck to all!

July Canadian filer here, who just read this Nov thread. Until now I just kept up with Feb - Oct 2013 but was curious to move forward.

I think Sylea you've already found that DCF doesn't happen in Canada anymore, and that you also have a trip to Montreal in your future:)

One other thing I wanted to point out since you've gone with a lawyer, is that you should remain vigilant about knowing the steps required for the next phase. Reading these threads has identified that lawyers do not necessarily work proactively on each next step, ie they may wait for notifications to come to them from USCIS or NVC instead of calling and requesting certain information in a more timely fashion.

I suggest you guys take some time to get started reading the NVC-stage thread to see where a few weeks can be potentially cut from your processing, and to be prepared with all required documentation.

Good luck on your journey!

i feel your pain Sylea lol. We live in Northwestern Ontario and there is a consulate in Winnipeg, 3 hrs from us but they only do passports and Birth Abroad. We have to go to Montreal as well.

And here I am in Alberta and have to travel a long way for both my medical and the interviewprotest6wz.gif

I'm still not sure whether to go to Surrey, BC for the medical, then Montreal for the interview, or whether to just take a full week to be in Montreal, as it takes several days after the medical for the results to be made available and ready for the interview. Either option is expensive.

happy travels and good luck to you as well!

My hub and I have the same hope. We knew it would take a while so we are really hoping that things will be moving by september (we have planned a honeymoon in september and bought our tickets home then, fingers crossed). Good luck to everyone all around! I leave to establish domicile in Seattle in April, so we will be apart from then until September. It sucks things take so long to process but c'est la vie.

happy travels and good luck to you as well!

Thanks for the heads up Lakehouse! Yes, we decided that as we both have busy full time careers, that it was not cost prohibitive for us to hire a lawyer to prepare all the paperwork and assist with the interview prep. So far our experience with the law office we hired has been good. I have been asking lots of questions via email, and the solicitor always replies promptly with lots of info. So far we don't have any concerns that using a lawyer is going to slow anything down. Can't get much slower anyway! LOL

That being said, this site has tons of great information, and I am signed up for email and text alerts when our I130 moves forward and am following our receipt number on the USCIS website. (Noooo...not obsessing at all, haha)

I'm already working on prepping all the information to take to Montreal when we finally get to that stage. As for the medical, I'm hoping there might be a thread on the Canadian forum to glean some info from. I have a couple of chronic health issues, which, while not debilitating, are a concern in terms of what the immigration medical is looking for. I'm fairly confident that they are mostly making sure you don't have any communicable illness nor any illness that might make you a burden in the system.

In any event, my husband and I will take a week in Montreal and treat it as a romantic getaway, to help with the pre interview jitters!

Best of luck to all! :)
