Hi

I received a RFE in the mail today. It was a mistake on our part that I had a feeling might be a problem. Our marriage certificate had a translation on it and I thought that would be good enough but it wasn´t so we have to send an official translated one. I´m so annoyed...just more waiting. Does anyone know how much of a delay this might cause.

thanks

There's the IV package (beneficiary) and the AOS (petitioner and/or joint sponsor) the IV includes police certificates, passport photos and a few other things. Look in the NVC guides that Saylin made. They're awesome they tell you everrrrything.

Ah ok, Thanks. I get it now, I have police clearance and passport pics ready, will take a look at the NVC guide later tonight and get everything else together.

Sorry to hear you got and RFE! :( I would suggest having the certificate fixed and sent back ASAP! It could cause only a week or two depending on how long you take to send back or it could be much longer, just try to be quick about it!

I know easier said than done, but fix it as soon as you can and send it. I don't think it should take longer than 2-3 weeks based on the posts from august/september/october filers. Though of course this is an educated guess. Best of luck.

Also can you update your information on the november filers list.

I personally don't know about Dubai or Sri Lanka, but I do know that its better to submit the PCC at the NVC stage. If she can start the process now that would be great. Sometimes you get lucky and will get the PCC in less than a few weeks and by the time you get tot he NVC stage you will be All set. I don't know from previous posts on VJ, that if you have applied for a PCC and submitted everything else, they will let you bring the PCC directly to the interview stage. But its an individual experience not the rule.

Best of luck.

They need social skils training. I've already heard someone almost suicidal after being told another 6 months by them. I think they get a ###### kick out of it. It's spiteful and mean.

Well, I used to be a customer call center manager and I can say that after taking a few hundred calls with similar issues/attitudes, even the best, most kind and caring person will grow numb to those things.

But yeah, it's very disheartening nonetheless.

I didn't go back and count, but I think there are now as many, maybe even one more, December approvals to November approvals. I've officially concluded a ouija board to be as valuable as anything else when predicting anything at all at USCIS.

I'm just going on memory. I'm too demoralized to go back and double check everything. I noticed another couple with the same PD, same SC as us, doesn't appear to be an expedite, had their interview on 16 April. At the same I noticed a couple just finished up after 14 or 15 months. Seeing that has me thinking of how long it will take before I get fed up enough that I'll just decide to retire (eligable in 98 days), take my pension, my investment accounts, etc and just beat feet out of here.

I would do it if I were you. Combined NVC + interview is going to take more than 98 days alone, and you've probably got at least 30 to NOA2. If I could leave this country easily and have a good life elsewhere I would do so and not look back. Just be sure to get rid of your US citizenship ASAP because the US makes all of its citizens file a tax return even when they're overseas.

On the plus side, that at least has a time frame and an end in sight. I think it's worse waiting now, after 5 months, because it could be today or another three months.
