Hey everyone,

As of October 7th, 2013, DS-160 is the form now required for all nonimmigrant visa categories INCLUDING K1/K2 visas!

You do NOT have to prepare DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230.

My fiance has her interview scheduled for November 13, 2013. The U.S. Embassy has informed her that she needs to fill out DS-160.

I was extremely confused by this request, because I had always been under the impression that DS-160 was for all visa categories EXCEPT K1/K2.

Apparently the U.S. DOS have changed these rules in order to expedite the visa process for K1/K2 visas.

I decided to do some more research into this change and found the following page from the US DOS official website: http://travel.state.gov/visa/forms/forms_4230.html

They have clearly stated all necessary information for applicants that were processing before, during, after Oct. 7th, 2013.

Needless to say, my fiance will be taking her completed DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-230 as a precaution.

You can never be too cautious!

Hope this helps some of you! :)
