We had our meeting today, just confirming that nothing is changing for us.

You're Canadian, even if your payments were going to quadruple, you'd eat it up and think it was great.

:S You know what I mean. The misguided nitpickery on this site is astounding.

Edit: Oh, now I see who you are. Don't pester me tongue.png I still like your avatar though.

The best part was when the lady (who I don't even think works for our company, was just some financial... person) said "This is very similar to healthcare in countries like Canada and let me tell you, Canada's healthcare system doesn't work."

Obamacare is NOTHING like healthcare in Canada.

It was hard to keep my mouth shut.

Must be a border state thing, no one down here ever talks about Canada in reference to anything.

Like if my knowledge of other countries came from countries I heard about at work or in the neighborhood or from friends, I'd never even know Canada exists.

I'd know about Mexico, India, the UK, Singapore, China, but Canada? no. Never.

The President of our company is Canadian. I remember this same lady last year said "your President is Canadian, and he knows how this won't work."

Just mind boggling. I have no idea who this woman is.

There are a lot of people here that think people in Canada are left to die because their healthcare system is so bad. My wife gets into it with the eejits at her work all the time over the healthcare issue. I always knew Americans were ignorant to what goes on in other countries, but never how much so since meeting my wife and bringing her here. And Canada is right next door for goodness sake.

That's a common misconception I hear a lot as well. They literally think people are dying waiting to see doctors. Our hospital hallways are filled with beds because there's no room and people are just dropping dead. It's madness. Canada's healthcare system is not perfect by any means, but the hysteria I've heard is based on absolutely nothing.

People here have brought it up to me just because they know I'm Canadian. They can't believe I don't have many complaints about the system back home. They're convinced that America is doing it better.

Learning what I have about the Canadian system in the past 3 1/2 years, I''m convinced that Canada has pretty much nailed it when it comes to taxes, social programs and the upkeep of their infrastructure. America doesn't come close.

GTA is the nicest metro area I've ever been to.

I agree. The outskirts of GTA are just as nice too. We spend a lot of time in the Mississauga/Oakville/Burlington area as well as Windsor, and they are all very nice.

I used to get the USA bestintheworld stuff when I first moved over.

It has been a long time since someone said that.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Hundreds of millions of dollars worth of brainwash and industry lobby propaganda have got to get you something. Seems to be working.
