I am guessing it is NOA-2 hardcopy (I-797), isn't it? I've got my case number a week after my fiance received NOA-2 hardcopy by mail and NVC letter 2 weeks after that. All you need is calling NVC and ask your case number. If they still don't have your case number yet then ask how possibility change the address during transition from USCIS-NVC-embassy.

Edit:

USCIS only allow to change the address if the case is still pending.

Yes, though you still get the letter from NVC which inform your case number but probably is better to call to be safe in case NVC sent the letter to the old address. When an actual date he will move out?

PS: I am still waiting for packet 3 from US embassy in Jakarta. On NVC letter saying that I can start fill out DS-160 form while waiting packet 3. Good luck girl, and keep us posted!

Since you got NOA2, your fiance cant change it through USCIS. However, if your file is at NVC, then you can change to new address. If your file left NVC, you need to contact Embassy to change it. That is what I did.

New Journey AOS:

My fiancee came to US on the 8th of March, 2014 under K-1 visa at Newark, NJ Airport for POE.

Applied Social Security Number on the 10 of March, 2014.

Married on the 13th of March, 2014.

Sent I-485, I-765, and I-131 on the 15th of March, 2014.

Received EAD on June 7, 2014.

Received Notice of Potential Interview Waiver on July 1, 2014 date 6/27

Contacted Ombudsman on 01/12/2015.

Ombudsman contacted USCIS on 02/20/2015.

Ombudsman sent a follow up to USCIS on 03/18/2015.

I-485 approved on 03/31/2015 ( we ordered your card).

Welcome notice was mailed on 04/01/2015.

Received Welcome Notice on 04/08/2015.

Card was mailed to me/picked up by USPS on 04/08/2015.

Received GC on 4/10/2015.

Prediction 04/08/2015

You're welcome and thank you for warm wishes.

I just called my fiance and he told me this.

*Ask your fiance go to post office

*Fill the card or paper about change address

*Put your old address and new address

*Post office will forward all your mail to the new address

This is the scenario if NVC already sent your fiance the letter. I hope it helps.

Yes, my fiance told me about that either and he hope that everything will send to him like this way. But he want to make sure that USCIS or NVC to know exactly the new address so they could send our papers well and we won't have to worry it lost! That's crazy so much! LOL

I hope everything will be okey girl!

My fiancee ia from VietNam. Note that NVC letter has the word " Return Service Request on the envelope which means they dont forward mail ( they might forward ). However, the NVC letter is just letting you know that they will forward your case to Embassy within 1 week and the case number is on that letter too. So, that letter is not really important and you dont use that letter anywhere. You can call NVC to obtain the case number at anytime.
