Although I knew no ADHD kids when I was at school (they were just the "hyper" kids back then) I knew more than a few dyslexic kids and a couple dysgraphic and dyspraxic kids. And I am an OLD. These syndromes aren't in the same category as ADHD, in my opinion. There were certainly dyslexic adults I went to law school with, who managed to do well despite their issues with some small allowances given for time to complete exams.

My nephew was diagnosed as ADHD when he was 10, and he spent a couple of years on Ritalin. He hated it. When my brother and his family moved to London, my nephew discontinued usage. Lo and behold, my nephew was fine and flourishing at a new school with better discipline and no drugs.

Yeah, I know there were hyper kids or kids with dislexia (and yes, it's not the same category).

But nowadays it seems that every other kid has ADHD or dislexia or other syndrome.

If you really look at sugar every child eats today....(just look at the overweight children).. this could be the main reason. There are kids that have a 6 pack of soda every day. Then you look at sugar breakfast foods and wonder WHY they are bouncing off the walls.at 10 am. Is this one reason we have mass shootings today... "the shooter was depressed" The drugs they give perhaps..... 10 percent of the children cause depression. It cost according to the wall street journal this week over 7000 to treat depression for child. .... So now you have an industry that gives out a drug and in return promises a customer base for the future. Treat 20-30 children for man made depression at 7000/clip a good income/year.... After a while the DR says cut back on the drugs and look..... I treated and cured the depression.

omg i hate doctors that only think of drugs to slow a fast kid down......my brother was diagnosed at age 10 with ADHD......the doctor told us my brother would need the medication to get thru high school and middle school so mom being mom asked all the questions about this diagnosis ..........refused the medication and said so what your saying is my son has too much energy and you want to give him drugs to slow him down right? doctor agreed mom brought my brother home talked to him about the trip to the doctors and said to him looks like we have two choices here drugs to slow you down or activities that use up that extra energy what do you think .............i want to tell you we have the best stacked wood pile for winter heat anyone could ask for compliments of my brothers need to slow down before bedtime....he also went into sports running was his best friend......computer games kept his mind busy when he got antzy he graduated high school took a year off of real life and is now in college for engineering.....

This may be one of the closest times I've had to agreeing with you. Supposing sugar was the root cause of all of this, you know just for conversation, how would you propose fixing the problem?
