PACKET 3 HELP!!

Good lord I am so confused. sleep.png I've read a thousand conflicting things and need clarification PLEASE. In my Pack 3 Checklist it states the following:

"You are required to furnish the original of each document PLUS one photocopy. This is your checklist & it must be returned to the consulate with form DSL-1076 and your documents as requested.

Your original documents will be returned to you at the time of your final visa interview. "

Does that mean they wish for me to send ALL my original documents in the mail to them? IE: birth cirtificate, medical cert, police check etc? Some posts have said that I only need to send the completed checklist, then all the docs to the interview. Other that I send EVERYTHING in.

Furthermore, do I need the original copies of the NOA1 and 2 that were sent to my fiancee?

Thanks so much for all your help!!!

Journey so far:

08/31/2013: Sent I-129F Packet

10/15/2013: NOA2 Received

10/21/2013: NVC Received Packet

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I'm confused about that too, but I'm going to get my originals copied and certified and send the certified copy with packet 3. I will attach a note that the originals can be sighted at the interview. I have 4 birth certificates to present (plus other documents also) and I'm afraid that I wont get the orginals back if I send them with pck3 and that's $100 to replace. They can keep the certified copies.

Police cert, medicals they can have the originals (but keep a copy of the vaccination sheet for AOS yourself).

I dont think NOA1 is needed but NOA2 is. Have your USC fiance copy it for his/her records and send the orignial to you. Same thing applies, certify the NOA2 and send the copy. Keep the original with you and the USEM can sight it if needed on the day of interview.

Hey flowershoes

You need to send all your applicable supporting documentation in WITH the checklist. I didn't send the medical info in though as I hadn't had my medical at that stage and they are familiar with folks bringing that along to the interview - it will be requested in your Packet 4 (interview email request) in any case.

I really wasn't comfortable sending any originals (ie my birth certificate, police certificate etc) so I sent certified copies of them and took the originals to the interview with me. They will also expect to see them at the interview. It was the second thing they asked for after the proof of payment for the visa application.

I only sent a copy of the NOA2 and that was accepted with no request to supply the original when I got my Packet 4.

Take care

cj

Oops....I knew I forget something! Don't forget to include a photo copy along with either your original or certified copy per the checklist.

What helped me was to put together a cover letter that had each document listed plus one photocopy against the checklist. I think I quadruple checked it (as one does) through sheer fear and terror of missing something out.

I reckon there should be a prize like a t-shirt printed with 'I didn't get an RFE' or something like that at each stage we make it through successfully....lol

We are really confused as well. Reading these posts, I am worried we missed the noa2. Where did you guys see that? I looked through all the checklists and I don't see that a copy is needed.

I just happened to read it on the forums, so while I don't actually think it's a necessity AT ALL, I'd like to have it with me for the interview as a Just In Case measure. I think perhaps in some countries it's asked for? Australia might not be one of them, so I wouldn't stress if I were you too much :) just take it down to Sydney!

I would DEFINITELY be investing in one of those tshirts if I can make it through this last part without an RFE! Thanks so much for your info, it's put my mind at rest somewhat. At least I'll be able to sleep tonight! (Sort of!)
