Hi guys, so I've been browsing the forums and seem to be getting different answers for this one. So if anyone has personal experience recently please let me know how it went. We're trying to figure out if we need to see a civil surgeon for our AOS paperwork. Husband came on a k-1 visa from tunisia. He had a medical over there and wa given a few vaccinations. Doctor completed DS-3025 or whichever form it is-sorry can't remember!- and signed off "Completed" he was not however given varicella and she put "not readily available" he did have chicken pox as a child though. On the USCIS website, from what I understand, it states that as long as the official vaccination form was filled out properly and the medical was within the last year he doesn't need to see a civil surgeon. Has anyone gotten by without one recently? Thanks for your responses .

You do not need another medical if you had yours within a year of filing for AOS. However, if you had chickenpox, then the DS-3025 needed to be marked off with 'VH' which stands for varicella history. You need to see a civil surgeon to get the vaccinations transferred to an I-693 and have the civil surgeon mark off that he has a history of chickenpox, which makes the varicella not needed.

~ Moved from K-1 Progress Reports to AOS from Family Based Visas- topic is about AOS, not K-1 case status/progress ~

Hi Erica,

The same thing happened to Ahmed. We didn't realize it until after we got a RFE for the missing vaccine. We called a couple of Civile Surgeons in the area and one told us to go have Ahmed get a blood test done to show he had the varicella antibodies in his blood. We put this through opur medical insruance and then had the reular doctors office send(fax or mail) a copy of the report to the Civil Surgeons office. He then filled out the part of the form with it showing that it was complete. No civil surgeon in our area would just fill out the form by Ahmed saying he had the vaccine. Some wanted to charge a lot more, by them doing the blood test, but it was cheaper to do it through insurance and then only 25.00 for the civil surgeon itself.
