We just got a letter today saying they didn't stamp something right at the POE when my hubby activated his visa :(

and now we have to mail stuff to the Texas Ctr

The bummer is that hubby got a job 2 days ago and they agreed to just hold his pay until the Social Sec # came thru, since we expected it any day now, and this morning he went to the Social office and they didn't have him in the system (now we know why, duh).

Has anyone ever heard of this? Just wondering how much this will delay his greencard and social #. ARG!!! I'm going to mail all the stuff Priority on Monday.

Also, they spelled his name wrong on the letter, so I am thinking his card would have been wrong too......

That sucks! Did it say what exactly was stamped wrong? I went through Sarnia/Port Huron too, they seemed to have no idea what to do with me.

it says "texas has received your visa packet from the POE, however the Port failed to stamp your application with an admission stamp. We cannot complete your processing with the proof of entry"

It's a xeroxed letter, which tells me this has obviously happened before......... argh

They didn't even know where to send my package. They were really nice, but had no idea what was going on; they had to get out the guide book. I hope everything gets worked out quickly for you!

You need to send them a copy of your stamped visa... After that, they will produce your card..

And you don't need a SSN to work... that's a common misconception.... they have to pay your husband, but at Single with 0 deductions.

Thanks for that info zyg

Ok, more goofs! We noticed yesterday that the Social Sec. office made 2 typos in our address. The street "4th" is written as "TH" and since there is 4th 5th 6th and 7th street all in the same zip code, it'll most likely get lost!!

He went back to the Social office today and asked that they correct the address and they said they couldn't, have to just hope the post office figures it out. He was very aggravated as this was their error (typo)

I know it's all just admin errors, but irritating nonetheless. We mailed in everything Texas wants, hopefully his social will get to him some day.......

I know of a family that entered the USA as permanent residents. (Immigration via relative, US citizen brother filing for brother and dependents). At the POE, they didn't enter the data of the father in the system and his SS card got delayed for 6 months. He couldn't work for all the time and had to sustain his family!!! Anyway, everything turned out good. this happened 10 years ago.
