I'm organizing the forms and docs for my interview date.

Anyone knows if it is ok to put everything in a small binder.

I'm thinking small binder with easy access to pull the docs and labels. Even a small album with pics and labels.

Or should I take everything put it in a big envelope and give it to them. I'm thinking organization will help a lot but I'm not sure what they are looking for.

Thanks for your comments!

Organization definitely helps

Put everything cleanly in a binder and seperate different pieces of evidence using some sort of labels (a page in between or a seperator)

It will definitely make your life easier and the IO will certainly appreciate it!

(Moderator hat off)

This question (with variations) is asked often. If you use a binder, use it so that you can rapidly pull out requested documents. A stiff or thick binder can't be slipped through the curved slot under the Plexiglass window. The chief result of your organizational system should be to lay hands as rapidly as possible on whatever is asked for.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I bought this to organize everything

That is exactly what I used an accordion binder labeled. It was light and everything was organized even though I only pulled out 10 sheets from it. They never asked for anything but pics and my Divorce Decree. Good Luck!

Posted (edited)

I put mine in a 1 inch - 3 Ring Binder with clear plastic 3-holed sleeves and the documents loaded inside and grouped by type.

~ Jan ??,2013 ~ Service Center ~ Vermont I-129F Packet sent

NOTE: Actual sent date unknown due to lawyer negligence - I delivered ALLForms and PAID Lawyer on Nov 7, 2012 - Lawyer kept saying he sent the packet and USCIS must have lost it. When in reality he failed to send the package and only a new copy to USCIS after I made a legal written demand giving him 10 days to perform or return ALL monies paid to him, due to "non-performance".

(IMO it's better to save your money for visits to or from your Fiancé and just fill it out yourself using the K-1 Guide on VJ and Senior Members... They Rock!!!)

Yeah....use dividers and sheet protectors for easy access....remember to organize everything in the best way for you to find documents quick.

If you print your pictures collage style on an 8x11 sheet you wont have to worry about having the pics all over the place....or you can put them in a soft cover album....anything that would fit through the small openening at the window!

Good luck!!!!

do I need a copy of the petitioners birth certificate and passport or the original?

Posted

I took both copies and "originals" but you only need a copy. The Petitioners Passport is mostly for ID and Proof of trips there so if you are submitting the information for that reason a copy is sufficient. They took my original made a copy and gave it back. Even though I had copies with me.. they did not take or ask for it they made their own copy.

The Beneficiary Passport must be original because the Embassy/Consulate will keep it if approved so that they can issue the Visa therein.
