Are they really insults or personal attacks when they're true? I think calling a spade a spade is necessary at times. If you're offended by it, then it's done it's job. ymmv

It's entertaining reading your futile efforts.

That you had to resort to name callings shows your maturity and education level.

Nice to see you back on after sulking for a bit lol

These stories are definitely made big news to polarize. It doesn't change the fact that the 2nd amendment isn't going away ever. It's an American tradition and mainstay. And what gun control advocates would term "meaningful reform" won't come any time soon on a national level. Get used to it.

Was the school wrong to bar her entry simply because she publicly advertised she's a responsible gun owner? Definitely. After all, a great many (if not most) people who commit murder with a gun in this country don't have the proper permits to own guns in general or their gun in particular. But I can understand their trepidation. People have been killed over a lot less than parent-school disputes. Maybe skype conference? LOL.

For me, she also was stupid to put stuff like that on facebook or any social media. It's one thing to be proud of an accomplishment (however small... not hard to get a ccp in Georgia. A real accomplishment is getting one in NY as my relatives have) and let friends and family know in passing, but to put it up on the internet for the world to see is both dimwitted and egocentric. I don't get our fascination with over-sharing online. I don't have a facebook. I know my friends and relatives don't give a sh*t where I had dinner the night before or what movie I saw last, and I feel the same about them. Too much noise on the internet, not enough substance.

To me, Facebook IS substance on the internet. It's the easiest way to keep in touch with family and friends back home that I only see a couple times a year. It's the quickest way to get updates on my nieces, see my friends' babies, etc. Sure, there's nonsense on there too. But not everyone on there uses it simply to 'over-share' on the internet and take pictures of food.

I like your response and how you broke it down into 3 distinct sections.

I agree.

I've made connections on the internet that I wouldn't have been able to do without G+FB. I mean long lost friends from 30, 40 years ago back in Nigeria.

My children are able to send me messages to see how I am doing in whatever part of the world I am in.

I don't post to say that I'm going to the restroom or in line at a restaurant, etc

FB is not bad, well it is on some level, but it depends on how you use it.

There's really no part of the internet that's not tainted by the "over sharers" ... but the speed at which we are able to share information/pictures/etc with friends and family around the world truly is amazing. And not something I'd want to be without, living away from so many of the people I love.

That is the point thank you..

People put stupid irrelevant ####### on FB all day long. I suspect 90% of my news feed is about stuff less interesting than someone getting their WCP.

The principal clearly said she was scared of her because she was in the Army and had a weapons permit. That's just stupidity. You can sit here all day and say, well the principal heard she was vocal in a meeting or there has to be more to it. The principal plainly said why she was banning her. For being Ex-Military and legally owning a gun.

It astounds me that our very sensitive liberal friends are ok with this. They are only for civil rights when it advances one of their fringe causes.

I wonder ho high they would be jumping if she had been banned for being a former member of some fringe radical black separatist organization and had bragged about getting her black belt in Karate.

So it's cool to stereotype her because she has WCP and was in the Army, both groups represent lower crime stats usually than their counterparts.

However if you profile a young black male for extra scrutiny, because he represents 3% of the population, yet commits almost 50% of homicides--YOU ARE RACIST--Liberal Logic right..Gotta love it

Well, that's just personal preference. I wouldn't find a picture of a gun permit remotely interesting. However, for it to be used against her is highly ridiculous.

Do you read this stuff somewhere or do you make it up as you go along?

That's cool - I was stating my opinion as a crotchety old lady (at heart). My Russian grandmother uses facebook to post pictures of random cats every day (and not LOLcats), so sayeth my brother. My close group of friends used to do trips to meet up once a year, now we are poor working professionals or grad students and we do google hangouts. I agree not everyone uses social media irresponsibly. But people should just be more careful and discerning about how much personal information they put out there. They wouldn't want it to come back and bite them - like this lady in Georgia.

I always find a FB posts that shares some personal event or picture more interesting than, if you love me send it back, Random thought for the day, stupid flowery saying, etc etc. That is why I would rank it higher.

Sometimes I go to post and then think..I have 400+ friends...Preachers, My passed moms friends, ex-Teachers, ex-coworkers,Gays, Liberals, Conservatives, people of different race and Nationality.Heck i even have a liberal gay Methosidt pastor friend. Even more I even have a Black FB friend

So almost anything I post is bound to piss someone off, unless it's just a pic of my wife and dog or something simple like that

I have kept my friends list fairly small. I've kept it to family members, friends, a few people from here .. I don't simply add people because I went to high school with them, or because I met them a couple times three years ago. I try to keep it to people who I have an interest in, and who have an interest in my life..
