It's as I said before, most like they diverted resources to process the backlog of K-1s, and next they'll do the same now that they have a backlog of something else.

If that's the case why have we seen only a trickle of approvals since June/July? What exactly are they doing to address the issue and why did it take them so long to start transferring files from the NBC to address it? Makes no sense at all. Like I've said before, this time it's different and they just don't care.

Simple answer is because it's USCIS and they're not in any particular hurry to do anything no matter what it is.

Apparently they're in a hurry to get all other petitions processed in their goal time besides I-130s for U.S. Citizens.

It'd be just ducky if they processed everything at the same rate, but it's just not how it seems to work with them, it's in swings and cycles. Just gotta wait your turn on the wheel.

Maybe the sensible folk who haven't let bitterness overtake them will listen to what I've been trying to tell them these last few days now that you've said that. Perhaps hearing it from "one of their own" will make them listen.

I'm not here as someone gloating, I'm here trying to help folk out, and put a stop to the K-1 hate nonsense at the same time.

Know what the most important part of this whole process is, no matter what you're filing? Realistic expectations. Having an eye for how things are really working. There's how things should *ideally* work, but it's just not the case with any of these processes. You need to talk with your partner and go over things together and really understand how long things are going to take with the current situation, and what the situation is going to look like some months down the road. No other way to go through it and still come out the other side.

But hey, what do I know, I suppose. I've only had a hugely successful long distance relationship for the last 4+ years that's finally coming to it's rightful fruition. The bitter hearts will erroneously say I'm just here to cause trouble.

When a case is transferred to a local office for processing does that mean its close to being approved? We just had our i130 transferred from NBC to TSC on Oct 30th and my spouse was issued a notice which she has in her possession now,was told to wait for about 60 days,we filed both petitions (i130 and i129) in March 2013 and as you know this is the 8month........ Just freaking tired of the whole process and when you call the info they give you keeps changing daily. Most of the USCIS staffs don't even know whats happening..... Whewprotest6wz.gif

I don't think that you're just here to cause trouble. But I do think you're coming off as smug here and people are not reacting well to that (probable) miscommunication.

I get your points, I really do. I've already been through this process when I went to Europe. And like I said before, that also sucked, but in a different way. I was also in a wildly successful long distance relationship. So successful that we married years ago, had two beautiful little girls, and built a life for ourselves in my husband's country. I've been with my husband for more than 9 years. Why is your 'rightful fruition' more valuable than mine, or should be given more weight than mine? The answer is, of course, that they're not and you can't really make blanket comparisons like that. Of course your relationship with your fiance is going to be more important to YOU. But for people who are separated from their spouses, it will be like just another slap in the face from someone who isn't and wasn't going through the same long term separation issues. During your 4 year long term relationship, you and your fiance were the ones determining how often you got to see each other. You were not forced to be apart by outside apathetic and uncaring forces. And when you finally decided to be together, your process went very quickly. I'm happy that it did. At least that's two people who don't have to deal with this garbage. But your perception is entirely predicated on your particular experience and you seem to have no compassion for those who are in a different situation than you.

Well said. It really hurts to not know how long we'll have to be apart from each other and I can't even visit him the US because of the pending petition. He can't come here to the Philippines because he's still in probation. He won't even be present during the birth of our baby. Now my husband is gonna hate me even more for leaving and wanting to go through the right procedure.

I think what shocks people about the K-1 processing is that the approach for immigration is supposed to be family first, and frankly fiancees are not legally family (yet).

It's not that one person is more deserving than the other, it's that our agencies are not following their own guidelines and laws.

Just my opinion.

Never said that. All I've ever said is one isn't any more important than the other. I've been trying to correct the erroneous thinking that a piece of paper (and sometimes, but not always, poor and hasty decisions) makes any couple more legitimate or should have special priority over another. Being apart is being apart all the same, no matter how you swing it.

Thanks Avery.....

Folks, I didn't start this thread to stir the pot, my intention was to provide some insight as to what appears to be the general concensus on the timelines...which we have all very clearly figured out. Being pissed off and frustrated is easy for sure, but when it's all said and done, it is what it is. We're all in the same line.....no prioritization is happening; can't be or none of us would ever get through it. I hate it like everyone else does. I hate that we are 60yo's and clearly will not likely get to plan to spend the next 30yrs together. But I'm in this for the long haul....he's worth me having to do whatever that is.

Folks, nothing hurts like having to wait on inaction. I was in torment back in my day, when our petition was at the tail-end of the timeline of that time.

(Little did I know that the true hell of the process was to come during the consular phase. After that, returning to dealings with USCIS was a distinct pleasure.)

Read the first three questions & answers in this pinned thread:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/220499-k-1-petition-information/

The larger situation is almost certainly much the same. Remember, too, that the DACA program (on the orders of one man) took precedence over all other petition types for many months and hurt the processing times. The link escapes me, but a VJ member ran a statistical analysis that seemed to leave no doubt.

The pain of the process can be diminished by focusing on the future -- how soon can you get the immigrant's life off to a running start after he/she is finally here? How can you prepare for the consular stage? Try to think resourcefully.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
