Hi,

I found out last month I will be deploying in March-ish. I had no idea that I was able to apply for an expedite process so I have not start anything. So, here is my situation:

Air Force will not cut out orders until like a week prior. This much we all know so I spoke with my C.O. and he is willing to sign pretty much anything I put in front of him to get my wife to the states. Now, does anyone have a particular template they used to draft one of these deployment notification letters? If so could you share or tell me where to find one? All I can muster up is an MFR and not sure if that will work.

On a separate topic, does anyone know anything about this tourist visa thing? Apparently my wife was told there is some sort of tourist visa she could apply for that will cost $200 for 90 days. At this point I am willing to pay anything since the last time I saw my wife was in April and it is hard for me to take leave with my new job. But if she was here, wowser! I'd pay for the fees, tickets, etc.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Don't know about the tourist visa, but for the expedite, try talking to your UDM, I used a "selection for deployment notification letter" to justify the expedite, I also did a cover sheet explaining the reason I wanted the expedite. Then I called the military helpline to request the expedite, got an email within a couple of hours asking for the justification with a fax #, faxed the deployment letter, and the coversheet. The approval notification was emailed the next day.

Hi April and Gary,

Unfortunately the process is longer than anticipated. I called first thing Monday morning and still got no response. I figure I will give it til the end if the week and try again next Monday. Will update more if I get more info. Thanks for the tips on deployment letter. I will check with my UDM.

I submitted my K1 with an expedite request due to military deployment....i put one letter from my UDM, one from my OIC and one from the Installation Deployment Officer along with a letter explaining the expedite request for deployment. I did not do a letter from my commander...is that an issue? I saw threads where folks got letters from there UDMs and did fine. Just curious if they will need one specifically from my Commander.
