I-751 November 2013 Filers

This wait is terrible! Still Initial Review.

Honestly it has been so long since I sent the original application and I am becoming more and more uneasy about what I sent. I feel like I could have done a lot better.

Will they ever deny an I751 without first sending out an RFE? I would not be surprised (or mad) if we received an RFE at this point, looking at what everyone else sent compared to what we did. And that's fine, we have other evidence we can send at this point. But I have this irrational feeling that they will outright deny without sending an RFE first.

Unless you weren't eligible to file for ROC yet, or have done something that would make you ineligible, I wouldn't imagine that would deny you without and RFE.

If you could please fill in your timeline it will help people give you more accurate answers here. :)

I'm not worried about not being approved. USCIS won't deny anyone without first sending an RFE and then scheduling an interview.

That being said, this wait is incredibly annoying. Even the December CSC filers are now being approved, and in all likelihood we may even hit some January CSC filers getting approved before VSC filers (especially the ones with no transfers) are done. What on earth are they doing up there at VSC? I've already had to travel abroad once without a 10-year card, and if this keeps up I might have to go on a second trip without it.

I feel your pain. It's excruciatingly annoying to see "Initial Review" for the past 5 months. I wish our case had been transferred, just so that I know that they had at least picked the file up. For all I know, they have the file somewhere at the bottom of a cabinet drawer. My hope is that we find out something before the end of April since their "goal" is 6 months. It's hard to see the December filers get approved with no action on our cases.

Anyhow - Fifth Echelon, how did your travel process go? We are planning on traveling out of country with our son soon and I don't want any issues.

The travel was more or less straightforward. The rule of thumb is that you won't have a problem with US immigration, but the airline could cause you issues if they don't recognize the NOA and believe it is valid. Here is my experience....

I flew DXB-LHR-DFW with my wife on British Airways and American Airlines. At DXB (Dubai), when checking it with BA, I presented the expired GC with the NOA. The check-in agent went to a supervisor and I could see them closely examining both documents and having a long discussion for about 5 minutes. Then the supervisor came up to me and said "Mr. Echelon, so your green card is being renewed, which is why you have this letter for travel?", to which I said yes. She then nodded at the agent who got us checked in, printed boarding passes, and we had no further issues from that point on until we boarded.

At LHR (London), we changed terminals and flights from BA to AA. Normally when you do a transfer at LHR like this, you have to present your documents again to an AA document checking agent after you transfer to the AA terminal. I did so as I normally do. This time the agent remarked "your green card is expired", and proceeded to look at the NOA. He seemed a little confused and said "I cannot process this" and directed me to the AA transfer desk (where you would go if you didn't have a boarding pass for your next flight, but we already had that). At the transfer desk I had no problems - the agent spent a few minutes typing in the computer and then told me I was good to go. No problem from then on until I boarded.

Finally, when I landed at DFW, I tried to use my GC in the Global Entry kiosk (since I am a GE member) but it wouldn't even recognize the card. So I went up to see a CBP officer as normal and he just stamped me in with a "welcome home" - no need for secondary or anything.

All of this being said - I am sure my travel was made easier because I have airline status with BA and AA, and also the fact that I am a GE member. Others here have stated that they had to go to secondary inspection when clearing immigration, which I did not have to.

Thanks for such detailed response! Traveling with the NOA form is a headache, but at least it sounds like it works.

Thanks for the reassurance. I tend to get freaked out about these things. My husband is still a student (he was adjusted from F1) and because of that, we have limited evidence of financial "comingling" since he barely has any credit and has no income.

Come on VSC get moving :)

Hi everyone. I'm new to the site. I'm a fellow November filer.

Could some one please add my husband's I-751 details:

Mailed I-751: 11/16/2013

Date of NOA: 11/19/2013

Biometrics: Walk in 12/16/2013

Transfer from VSC to CSC: 3/14/2014

Congrats to everyone approved and to us still waiting will hopefully get approved soon.
