"unless we become US Citizens we will never be considered an equal member of society from a status perspective." Don't you think something is wrong with that statement in the 21st century. On a moral perspective the "House" actually belongs to the native Indians which was stolen forcefully. If you look at it at different level, we are just trying to get status from thiefs "legally". By the way, the whole process could be treated as a DMV kinda settings to make things easier and instant approvals. Six month for one application totally make no-sense however you look at it.

this line of argument regarding americans and native americans is not applicable here, and it just bemuses me time and again how people use that as argument/defense on every other goddamn topic. What's even funnier is that people who criticize american govt/policies are the first in line with the PR applications (not aiming at you directly).

Plus, you must be kidding when you say this whole process could be treated in a DMV setting. If you imply, it should take a day, quick in and out.. then god may save this country from bad elements of society (read: terrorists). Having said that, I agree it shouldn't be taking six months either. I'd be just fine with something on the scale of 2-3 months especially for ROC applications.

Hi All,

Let's try to turn this around and make this a positive forum. VJ should be a place where we can seek advice, vent frustrations and share our successes with others going through a similar experience.

I am certainly impatient when it comes to this process, but mostly because the fate of my husband is in someone else's hands who doesn't know us and our ups and downs as a couple, as parents and as friends. I have no doubt that everything will be fine, however the wait seems like forever.

I'm sure we will all hear some news soon and I hope to share with my VJ friends!

Agreed,

This process should in no way be treated as dmv renewal.

The govt has set all rules for all processes,so everybody on spouse visa knows that what the process is and where its gonna take them(AOS, ROC, cr1 or another)

I should say that time frame of 4,5 months is ok and i think its delayed because of backlog.

I should tell my real first time experience.

When i was going for biometrics, the cab driver who was taking me there told me his story(as he got to know that i am was going to bio office so started asking questions that why i was going there). He got married to USC only to get paperwork done.He was from philipines, exceeded his visa and then married USC just to get green card.I don't know whether his wife knows about it or not(i didn't ask).He was complaining that uscis are not giving him temporary green card ,kinda delaying it and asking more papers(no surprise to me cos he was doing marriage scam).I asked him that why to get green card,he said cos his family needs money in philipines and only way is to stay in US and send them money and to do that his friend suggested him that marriage is easiest way to get green card.To my great surprise he did not have permit to drive taxi,he was using fake ID to do so.

So i got a live example who is doing marriage scam to get green card.

I was relieved to conclude that process of scrutinizing deep into relationship is justified cos people are committing marriage scams and that is the job of uscis to find it.So their asking deep docs ,sending rfe is logical and justified. They need to get satisfied before approving.

I understand that few real couples are drilled more because of these scammers,on the other hand few scammers work so efficiently that they are able to deceive USCIS.

First, that was a response to the other person, but your point about criticism of u.s govt. is futile. No one is criticizing the u.s govt. although, I do not agree with lot of ways they handle some policies. About the" DMV" and terrorist thing you mention, there are mechanisms in place to fight that hence the biometrics, background checks etc. Finally, the comment about the native Americans; if you know your history then you should know that your point is invalid.idea9dv.gif

To florao1,

We are specifically talking about the removal of condition; about the taxi driver guy you mentioned, if that's what he want to do good for him, what ever the out come is he's going to face it not you. Judge not and you'll not be judged!!

I talked about ROC and it is my ROC as well.

It was in response to-1.why ROC takes too long , 2. why its not as easy as dmv.

So if somebody came across me within 20 min of drive, telling his true story when i was going for my bio,i definitely have to think about delays and happy to get the reasons for it.

Taxi driver and lot more scammers are indirectly related to every real couple's process.

Because of them uscis tends to delay the cases, drill in more until they are satisfied with docs.

Main purpose of it was to relieve the pain of delay which everybody is suffering(which i might start feeling after couple months) and to think that we all are going in a positive direction.

Congrats kaibil1977!!

About the ROC process: the one change that would help a lot, would be instead of a one-year-extension letter, while the case is pending, is to issue another one-year GC. The extension letter can get easily damaged or lost. A GC is less likely to get damaged. Also for international travel some airlines or IO don't really know the letter and it can delay or make it more difficult to travel internationally. That would really help with the whole ROC process anxiety I think.

Feb 02, 2015: Had my interview. I.O. verbally said, I had "passed" and should receive the Oath Ceremony notice within 90 days. I.O. did not give me anything in writing.
