Hi Everyone - I have been stalking the Visa Journey pages over the past couple of months trying to gain more information on the ROC process. I have decided to add my information to this thread and hopefully I can share the ups and downs of this process with all of you. This process is stressful and I cannot tell you how happy we will be when this over!

If someone can add the following information to the chart, I would be appreciative. I am the UCS and we submitted my husbands I-751 application to the Vermont Service Center on 11/2. We received the NOA and it was dated as 11/5. My husband was scheduled and completed his biometrics on 12/11. We are now in the process of just waiting.... and waiting... and waiting. I really hope we do not get an RFE as it will elongate the process, however I am concerned that we may not have had enough "evidence". My biggest issue is financial as I am a student and my husband takes care of our child - we live with my parents who truly help us in every way. Anyhow this is what we submitted:

  • Our son's birth certificate (he is a USC as he was born here 6 months before we were married)
  • Marriage License
  • Joint bank account statement
  • Joint car insurance
  • 2011 tax returns - filed jointly
  • 2010 tax returns - filed jointly
  • Photos from when I was pregnant until now, some with our son, some without him

We don't have a lease/utility bills since we stay with my parents and everything is in their name (although they did affidavits for us for the temp gc process). Anyhow, I am concerned that we may get an RFE because we don't have a lot of evidence. Let me know your thoughts and good luck in the process!

A couple of questions that I have after looking at your list. :)

1) How many months worth of joint bank statements did you submit?

2) Tax returns - did you submit the tax returns you printed out after you filed your taxes or did you submit tax transcripts? They're two different things.

I can't say if you will get an RFE but there are some elements that I think (just my opinion) are missing and may be cause for RFE. Just in case, it might not be a bad idea to start collecting evidences in case you do get an RFE, so it's good you ask now :)

A few things I have in mind that may help you consider possible evidences:

1) Since you are a student, do you have student insurance and does it cover family?

2) You didn't mention employment. If there is employment, consider the benefits that cover spouses.

3) Do you have joint car title?

4) It might not be a bad idea to update the affidavits from your parents just to prove that both of you are still living in the same place.

5) Any Credit card bills? Financial bills? Student loan bills? Any other bills or important documents that you have sent to the same address that both of you live in addressed to either both of you or either one of you.

6) If you don't have tax transcripts, might not be a bad idea to get them. They're free and fast to get. Unless you submit the entire tax return package, just the first page of the tax return summary isn't enough. But this depends on what you already submitted.

This is a start - hopefully you can think of some more. There are a lot of little things that you may think of that may be useful too.

Yes RFE does prolong the process and can be aggravating and a LOT of waiting but when it happens it happens. If your evidences are still not good enough then you will need to get an interview. But otherwise there is really not much to worry about if you're legit. The wait just sucks LOL

12/11/13 - Response to service request rec'd - vague info about processing times

12/12/13 - Service request via Tier 2 submitted

12/10/13 - APPROVED!!! (letter rec'd 12/14/13)

12/16/13 - 2nd Service request response rec'd

12/17/13 - Card production email/text rec'd (online case updated)!

12/24/13 - Notification rec'd via email regarding card mailed on 12/23/13 (online case updated as well)

12/26/13 - 10-yr card rec'd!

One thing I have learned on this journey:

There is no such thing as an "overkill" evidence package. Submit anything and everything you can. Who knows what will prevent you from getting an RFE.

Hi Victorian,

Thanks for your response! We submitted joint statements dating back to August 2012. Prior that, we had another account that we shared but we closed it and opened another one. We had submitted that account information for the temporary green card. For tax returns, I am not sure the difference between printed out and transcript. Basically I went to our tax prep guy and said I wanted to submit my tax returns for this process and he gave me huge stack for each tax return. It basically appears like our file for 2011 and 2012. Neither of us work, as I attend school full-time and he watches our son. We don't have any credit cards but we have debit cards. We do have health insurance so I can use that. I am not concerned about going to the interview or doing the RFE, I just want this process over so we can be stress free!

Do we know what the chances of having an interview at this stage are? I had one for AOS and I really hope I can avoid it this time. I assume there is a quota and it's luck of the draw. It does seem however from reading on here that we have pretty solid evidence, we own a home together now so we have various bills, mortgage statements and car titles. Although I think because we have much more solid evidence we probably submitted less. Quality over quantity and all that

Just got done with my biometrics appointment!

It was really full here in the Orlando office, thank god everybody was really nice!

Can I have someone change my dates please. We actually had our first appointment on December 20th, but had to reschedule as that was the day we flew to Canada for Christmas. I even researched how long it would take to get an appointment and delayed mailing in our package hoping it would be after the holidays. I sent in the appointment letter as instructed and surprisingly got a new appointment for December 30, 2014. Heading there shortly...we'll be so glad when this process is over!

Nothing here yet, but the estimated processing times at CSC are still a couple of months down the line and I think VSC are slower
