If I'm asked if I'm cold I would say yes I hate the cold. Then they go on with but you're from Canada! Yes I am and I know how to turn the heat on.

Omg I get that all the time. /facepalm

Even from my husband. Drives me batty. Just because it was cold 5 months out of the year, doesn't mean I enjoy BEING cold.

I have been asked if we have warm water in Switzerland and grocery stores.

Also, when I mentioned I would have loved to live in Scotland I was told "really ? But it is all green grass , mountains and no civilization there ??!!"

Hilariously I was told by a lovely mature lady at a grocery store "you speak really good English for an Australian". I thought that perhaps she was mixing me up with an Austrian and I confirmed I was from Australia. She said, 'yes I know you are Australian, your English is really good, I can understand you really well'....... With loving kindness, bless her.

I don't have a discernible typical English accent e.g. I'm not cockney, brummie, etc. So I've been asked if I'm from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. Once I was asked 'Are you European?'!

I've been asked if I've met the Queen. When the new prince was named George, a few people said to me 'didn't we get rid of a George?' (it stills amazes me how much coverage that got on the news - I did ask my husband 'didn't you get rid of us so that you didn't have to bother with this stuff?')

I'm still getting used to the 'two countries separated by the same language separated' thing, so get ribbing for asking for 'kitchen towels' instead of 'paper towels'. And saying words like trousers, crisps, jelly and such.

Whenever I'm over visiting the US to visit my hubbies family,

There is ALWAYS a new person I meet and they're like 'Oh where are you from?' When I tell them Ireland, they automatially put on a leprechaun accent and tell me all about how they have family here and that they go wayyy back. lol seriously, it gets annoying after so many times!

An online friend of mine from Texas tried to tell me from New Brunswick Canada, all about how to cook a lobster...Pffft!!!

Also get the weather conversation about how I must be enjoying the warm weather here in Mass, compared to Canadaeh!

ermm well, ok, in NB it may be a few degrees colder but this ain't no Caribbean Vacation Dahlin'.

Oh and I get the "EH!!" things all the time as well...and supposedly we are all lumberjacks and rednecks
