Translation in Germany + Documents

Hello,

I have several questions....

My situation:

- Petition already in Frankfurt (still waiting on supporting documents from fiancee in the US)

- appointment for medical in 2 weeks

- DS 160 done online

- fee paid

- collected documents in order to send to frankfurt

- DS-160 confirmation page

- 2 pictures

- police report + translation

- birth certificate + translation

- DS 156 + DS 156K (do i need that DS 156 even though its not mentioned in the letter from Frankfurt?)

---> all I need, right??

--> I had a translation done 2 weeks ago "Übersetzungsbüro 2000" in Germany/Oldenburg. It said it's certified. But it's not on the pdf list from

Frankfurt. Do I HAVE to pick one from their list or just any certified translator??

Translations:
All documents not in English or German must be accompanied by certified English translations. Translations must be certified by a competent and registered translator.

We sent petition some time in September - so far processing times are pretty awesome! ;-)

Are your birth certificate and Fuehrungszeugnis not in German? As stated in the instructions from Frankfurt, you will not have to translate them if they are in German. For the birth certificate I used an International Birth Certificate, which you can order at the Standesamt of the place where you were born. Cost me 10 Euros per copy (I ordered a bunch because you will need them later for AOS, ROC, and citizenship).

As for the DS-156, I had to fill it out back when I applied. However, I just checked the current checklist from the consulate, and indeed it only mentions the DS-160. I suggest you ask in our German-speaking thread - there are quite a few members who have gone through the process in the last few weeks, so they might be able to give you more up to date info: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/272767-german-peopleruhrt-euch/page-91

When in doubt, just e-mail the consulate - they are usually pretty fast with their replies.

Yes - the "Führungszeugnis" is German - so no translation?? Will get the international birth certificate ordered tomorrow! Didnt know that - thanks!!

Nope, you only need a translation of the birth certificate and Fuehrungszeugnis if they are NOT in either German or English.

See Frankfurt's website: "All documents not in English or German must be accompanied by certified English translations."
