I have another question for all of you here, especially to those who have the already experienced the same situation.

I am a foreigner in China and applying for a k-1 visa like everybody else in Guangzhou. I work in Beijing as a math and science teacher. I haven't made an interview appointment yet and I just sent my packet 3 response yesterday.

What's bugging me is when I'm approved and the consul will take my passport. How will I go back to Beijing? I am going to take a plane to Guangzhou and going back to Beijing. Do you think the airline will allow me to fly without a passport? Or do you think they will just accept a photocopy? Or maybe some proof that my passport is still in the American consulate? A receipt perhaps?.. Or maybe I'll contact the airline and inform them that I won't have a passport when I go back to Beijing?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Have you registered on ustraveldocs site yet,? If you haven't go ahead do that now. You can pick a CITIC bank location near you in Beijing. The Consulate will send the passport back through CITIC bank, 中信银行, you just pick your passport at the location you picked on ustraveldocs website.

Hi Noahsmama,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I haven't registered to ustraveldocs yet because I thought I have to wait for the packet 4 to do that?

My concern is after my interview and assuming that I am approved. How can I go back to Beijing without my passport? I will take an airplane and I am afraid that they won't let me in because I don't have my passport.

What about your China ID? I thought you can just use that.

I don't have Shenfenzheng.. What is it?

I think that's the best thing to do; to call the airline and ask if I can only show a photocopy of my passport on my way back to Beijing.

I can't stay that long in Guangzhou. I have to go back right after my interview for work. I will only take leave one day for my interview.. Need to prepare for exams for the end of this term and need to impressed my employer before leaving :)
