Hi Al,

My parents came to USA on B1/B2 visa for a month (left last week). I was looking at their passport just before they wee leaving, and I didn't see any I-94 card stapled anywhere in the passport. They came to Houston airport (if that helps) from New Delhi (India). I was wondering if they have stopped issuing paper form of I-94 (I never heard it though), or if it will have any implications on their future visits? Just FYI, they were issued 10 year multiple entry B1/B2 visa back in February this year, and it was their first visit.

Thanks!

Thanks florida4life for the links.

However, under the FAQs listed in first link, it mentions that admission records will be available on I-94 website until one departs from USA. But as I mentioned previously, my parents left last week, and I guess that's why it keeps saying "Admission (I-94) record number: Not found".

My biggest concern is when they come here for their next visit in a year or so, POE officer might give them hard time since they didn't get I-94 this time? Does that make sense?

Will going to USA consulate in India help in any way? Just to make sure their arrival/departure was recorded perfectly (although their passport does have a stamp showing admitted to USA on September 27, 2013).

They don't need to do anything. The I-94 is now electronic. Their arrival and departure are recorded electronically. The only people who need to get a physical copy of the I-94 are those who are dealing with immigration to the US. That doesn't apply to your parents.

Why do you want their I-94 if they've already left? Even when there was paper I-94, you had to turn them in when leaving. So you would also not have their I-94 after they left.

No, it does not make sense. Not getting the paper I-94 the whole point of automating the I-94s.

They are automated, but you still need to call your local CBP office. I called for my MIL, and we now have to go to CBP office, because when she POE'd, they input her information incorrectly.

Each time one enters the US, he/she will have a diferent I-94 (just like the paper one). You can look up the number on the website while that person is still in the US. Once he/she departs, the number is retired and you will get NOT FOUND when search on the website. Dont worry, next time your parents come, they will have new I-94 numbers. If you still want to get their I-94 numbers for the last time (for whatever reason), you have to go to the local CBP office - usually located at the airport, they can still retrieve it for you. We did.... longest wait ever at the local CBP, however...
