Okay, Spooky, i am not a regular to the forums and didn't catch the sarcasm. My mistake. Lets just say i am not at all happy with what is being forced on us (because it had to be voted on before anyone could read it). Now everyone has to deal with it!

How much does your plan cost you now per week (your out of pocket money) and how much will it cost you when ACA takes affect?

I am in Mass where we have had the mandatory healthcare for a while now, my wife and I both pay $50 per week each, for 2 single plans with $1,000 deductibles also through BCBS, our respective employers pick up the rest. We save $50 per week by purchasing two single plans opposed to one family plan.

PaulAbby, could you answer my questions above? I'm trying to understand just how much more people will end up paying for coverage similar to what I have under the new ACA, especially compared to what we pay here in Mass because we have had this system in place for a while now. Thanks.

when the democrats were pushing for, voting for, and praising Obamacare as the Affordable Care Act... ... well, they never read it so really how did they know it would be affordable.??

and even the stories I've read about people with lower monthly premiums, they still are faced with deductibles of 5-12 thousand dollars a year... So unless you are catastrophically sick and have over 5 thousand dollars in medical bills, your insurance will really not pay very much..

so you pay for insurance but you may never use it... but you will get one free yearly , "well exam" from your PMD.. and women will get free contraceptives, and other various scans.. but men still have to pay for prostrate exams and Viagra... kinda seems like Obamacare is sexually discriminatory towards men.

I have employer based coverage with my company paying (aprox 75% of premium), $1,000 deductable (1200 next year), family plan. My part of the premium will go up 56% or $1,776 more in 2014 than this year and $400 deductable (if i use). My company has reported that they expect thier part will cost them at least 12 million to 18 million more. Insurance is through BCBS. By the way, as far as i can see from reading the information there is not an increase because of additional coverage or benifits to meet Obamcare Specifications. So this additional amount of money IS NOT getting me any additional benifits!

Sorry but $2,176 is not a small amount of money!!! And i just wonder what it will be next year!

If your employer plan doesn't change coverage based on the ACA requirements, how do you figure that the premium increases are due to the ACA? I don't see how that would be the case.

At least nobodies taxes are being raised...thank God for that. Because when they use the term "tax" that seems to make more of a difference.

Maybe we could actually start taxing the billion dollar earning businesses in this country and offset some of these cost?

My payments actually went down...well because I'm in a union and we bargained that. But then again unions are evil...lol

So them my lower than historic average premium increases for next year are also because of Obama? Or am I getting those despite Obama?

Isn't really sad that we have become conditioned to be glad that an increase is less than it usually is? We have been brainwashed into paying more for everything all the time to the point where something only goes up by 10% is now considered a good thing. I'm not just talking about health insurance, but just about everything.

Absolutely. Funny how there seems to be a lot of selective amnesia out there as if health insurance just now started to get more expensive where thatr really happened year after year for at least the past two decades - I've witnessed tht first hand.

What's really funny is that the PPACA locked those same entities that had previously raised premiums into the system and rigged the legislation to allow those same companies to raise premiums and reduce their financial exposure going forward.

And nothing about the act makes healthcare more affordable. :(
