we are 33 days now waiting for a case number,on my end, I have completed the I-134,acquired old marriage certificate and certified divorce decree,3 yrs tax transcripts an letters from employer and bank along with most current check stubs. On her end,she has passport,birth certificates,her and her son,and "right to marry" certificate letter. We are going to have a few questions now, to not overload you people we will confine it to one question every couple days555. Can songsang go for medical and police clearance with copies of NOA`s1+2 or do we have to wait for case # from NVC? thank you....stevie

If you were processed through CSC Center, the wait is running long.

If you were processed through TSC Center, you should have your case number already.

Please keep in mind that some dates are only known after receipt of another document.

She can go do both now. Also make sure she has a court order granting her sole custody of the child or have the father sign a letter stating he has no objection of the child migrating to the US with her. She will also need a copy of his IC card and house book. Here is a link for the embassy website that gives a sample.

This is incorrect. My fiancé went and got her COC in Thailand and Singapore with just the NOA2 along with her medical in Bangkok with no issues.

Please if you don't have experience in the stated county do not give advise that is not correct....

thx long,was told that the" custody of child" is not needed, only" right to marry" as her son is 18years old and is not immigrating. I asked about using NOA-1+2 for med. and p.c because NOA-1 names the country while the NOA-2 does not, only her name and an A#....thank you....steve

Thanks. Sorry I should of asked the age. But yes have her do her medical and police certificate now. The police cert for us took a few weeks. Also once you get your case number you can track it here:

It will show when it leaves the NVC and when it arrives at the embassy. I would send her your I-134 and documents now so she has them and have her download Packet 3 for the embassy website. That way you and her can go over the packet before she sends it in.

I ended up assembling our Packet 3 with a cover letter and sent it to her to have her sign the DS-2001 and updated letter of intent from me and her. We FaceTime all the time so it helped her on the DS-160 which wasn't to hard. I also sent her 2 copies of everything that I had to sign just encase something was miss placed or lost. Once the embassy received our case she sent Packet 3 by EMS. Do not wait for the embassy to send you a letter or email. Once u know that your case has been received send Packet 3.

I have gotten some really good advise from Ning, slowly man, and Karen on here. They have helped me out a lot. If you have any more question ask. Once again congrats!!!!

I sent my fiancee for her police check a couple of weeks ago, with the NOA2 letter. They also asked for a copy of my passport. Once you request it, the wait is about 3 weeks. Be prepared to furnish a copy of your passport. I know it isn't supposed to be required, but it seems like they won't do it otherwise.

She can do both as others have said. Keep in mind that all cases sent from NVC arrive at the consulate section across the street from the embassy I V section. This means there is a delay in the I V sections acknowledgement of having the case. Just make sure the I V section has the case before she sends in anything.

I don't know when or why this idea of having to have a copy of the USCs passport came from. I know of many cases where this wasn't required. I always worry about providing the police with anything they don't really need.

Just to be clear, long meant to say Karee not Karen. Karee has probably gone by many names but I don't think Karen was one of them. I just love the name Karee because he worked hard to earn it.

Yes Karee is correct. The difference is the embassy can deal with the Thai versions but the people dealing with the AOS cant and you will find many uses for the translations in the future.

For example just last week I had to send for the originals so I can submit them for my daughters US passport which will then give her U S citizenship. I should have listened to my husband when he suggested I pay for more than one when we were in Thailand.

Something is not right. Have you called NVC? We were only three days from NOA 2 - NVC case number. I would say the time for patiently waiting has passed. You need to be on the phone.

I just looked through your past posts. I see you were the couple with a NOA 2 in 21 days. I wonder if that was a snaffu at USCIS. You really need to be on this phone.
