Hello!

My fiance just sent in our 1-129f package last week and we've got the NOA1.

Feeling super impatient about when the NOA2 will come... our case is being handled by the texas service center and it looks like most people wait 6 months to get their NOA2!! Fingers crossed that it will come sooner than that, not sure if my heart can take 6 months of constantly fretting over when our NOA2 will come

Thank you! I'm so happy. :) I opted to have it sent to me. My status on CEAC changed to "issued" on 24 Dec and I received the package on 26 Dec - that's effectively a one day turnaround time considering the public holiday in between.

Hi kitthekat, just wanted to prepare for the interview. When/where did you choose to have the package sent to you? Was it when you register with Aramex? Or did you tell the Embassy that you were going to pick it up?

it was after the interview that i registered with aramex (i chose home delivery). the consular officer will give you an instruction sheet with the URL. :)

Hi SIN2LAX! It looks like you have an interview date already :) Goodluck and hope you'll come back to share your experience. It's been more than 2 weeks since I sent my packet 3 to the Embassy and I haven't received my packet 4 yet. I remembered what happened to you and now I'm contemplating if I should email them. I've sent quite a number of queries lately that's why I'm hesitant to ask now. They might get annoyed and further delay my interview hahah! I hope not!

Question regarding the police cert needed in packet 3, just trying to prepare ahead :)

It says that I need to obtain one from any "locality" where I've resided for 12 months or more - does this mean that in addition to getting one from SG's police, I need to get a police cert from New York City where I was on a student visa for 3 years? I'm not sure how I would get that, seeing as I no longer live in the states. Any help about whether this is necessary is appreciated!

Hey PauPau... thanks for your wish. Yes, we got our interview date already. Wish us luck! :D

From our experience, the embassy won't tell you the upcoming interview date. You may want to try these to check:

1. Check the CEAC site (https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/), put in your case number, and check the status and the updated date. The updated date is most likely when the letter (packet 4) was sent.

2. Call NVC (http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/immigrate/nvc/nvc-contact-information.html), they should know if your appt date.

All the best to you too!

NVC now handles post-NOA2 case information for K1s so you can call them to check if an interview date has been set.

Anybody has experience in getting a 221(g) doc (refusal worksheet) after the interview?

My fiancee went to the interview, but did not bring a document that they (the consulate) wanted. They wanted to see the original birth certificate in the original language.

She has re-submitted the required doc via aramex (per the consulate's instruction) and she still holds her passport.

Our questions:

1. Anybody knows how long it takes them to re-process?

2. What happens they've done the re-processing? The consulate said that they would call her. Does that mean a 2nd interview? Or she would just come to the consulate with the passport and get the visa right there?

3. Is there a way to expedite the re-process? (i.e. will a lawyer help at this point?)

Thanks

1. could be a few weeks to a month

2. usually they keep the applicant's passport. did they instruct her to return the passport together with the birth certificate and 221g slip? in any case, if all is good with the documents, they will collect the passport from your fiance and send it for printing. it will not be issued right away.

3. lawyer won't help, i suggest keeping in contact with the embassy via email to ensure that they have received all they needed and to find out when and how she can submit her passport.

Thanks for the quick response kitthekat. You are always very helpful :)

They instructed her to keep her passport and not to send it along with the birth certificate and 221g slip. We also confirmed by calling the embassy again and the receptionist said to just include whatever is mentioned in the 221g slip (which was only the original birth certificate).

Thanks for the suggestion. Just to confirm, the embassy's email is singaporecon@state.gov .. correct?

Thanks again!

Gah, the embassy forgot to take my oath and have asked me to return on Friday (20 Dec 2013) to do it. Not a big deal, just a bit of a hassle to request for time off again, travel there, etc. I'm guessing this also means there'll be a delay in getting my passport back. :(

Hey kitthekat, just wondering, what did you have to do for the oath? And how long was it ?

just 2 seconds, the oath is basically taken by fingerprinting you. it's a new quirk of the DS-160, or so the CO said.
