What is the usual timeframe after sending packet 3 to receiving packet 4?

We sent packet 3 on May 19, but we haven't received anything yet.

Is there anything we can do to check/track the status?

it took a month-ish for me. you can email the IV unit but they can be pretty tight-lipped. i think you can also call the NVC (used to be the DOS but i believe they recently stopped giving out info to K1 visa applicants) to check if a date has been set.

Tried the IV unit, but it's either not connected, or went straight to voicemail... O well.. we'll wait a bit more.. hope things go smoothly :)

Btw, I haven't research this yet, just wanted to ask if anybody knows any tips on transferring CPF money the most efficient (least fee & best conversion rate)?

Hi SIN2LAX, thanks for bringing this up! I'm interested to find out too and based on research, they recommend that we open a Citibank US dollar account here. They have online banking to which we can transfer the funds to a local US bank account when we get there. There is a one time charge of around $30.00 I think. There is also a free international ATM card. This is what I'm planning to do after eliminating other options but some VJ members maybe able to advice us on what's best to do too.

Thanks PauPau for your input. We have looked into this option as well.

Btw, after sending in Packet 3, we don't need to schedule our own appointment on http://www.ustraveldocs.com/sg/sg-niv-appointmentschedule.asp, we should just wait from the Embassy to send Packet 4, correct?

Correct, the embassy will schedule it for you and notify you of the date in packet 4 :)

A little update, so we emailed the embassy at singaporecon@state.gov on 6/17 asking the application status, and we got an email today 6/19 saying that the appointment was set 6/11, but we never got any letters from the embassy.

For others who are waiting for packet 4, I'd suggest that you email (singaporecon@state.gov) or call (+65 6476-9100) about 2 weeks after packet 3 is sent just to get a status update from the embassy.

So frustrating... :crying:

Thanks PauPau. He (the officer) didn't give us the interview date. That's what's so frustrating, the interview date can only be given via a postal mail, no email, no phone, only postal mail. And he could not even give him his name when I asked. He just said that a new letter will be mailed out, and is expected to arrive mid next week.

If a date has already been set, you should be able to get it from the NVC. :)

kitthekat, did you mean the ceac site? We did check, but we only saw that it's in "READY" status. It also has the case creation date, status updated date, and the following message:

Your case is ready for your interview when scheduled at the U.S. Consular section. If you have already scheduled an appointment for an interview, please prepare your documents as directed in your appointment letter and appear at the consulate on the appointed date and time. Otherwise, please wait until you have been notified of your interview appointment. Additional information about how Immigrant Visa interview appointments are scheduled can be found at:http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3731.html

You can go to your bank and get a form, fill it up and make the transfer at the bank itself before you leave Singapore. Or you can also transfer the money after you leave using ibanking. That's what I did. There's a fee for that, so make sure you find out the fee to be incurred from your bank before using ibanking. Hope that helps.
