I WAS APPROVED! ???

Really simple and fast. My appointment was at 10, but I arrived around 9.30am because I know their security always takes a very long time. Got in around 9.50ish and got my queue number. Waited only about 5 minutes before I got called up to the counter for document checking. Gave my documents in the order that they requested in an email the day before (birth cert, coc, passport pics, affidavit of support and all pertinent documents to show that I/ fiancée can support myself/me). The counter guy was super friendly, especially after he found out that my financés a historian(he was previously from the same line). After verification, he got me to sit back down and I waited another 10 minutes or so before being called up by name to another window, where I had to take oath and fingerprints before being asked about my relationship. I'm not one to remember dates, and I really don't keep track or scrapbook my relationship dates and events, so I stumbled a little, but I think the lady understood and was pretty patient with me standing there and trying to count months lol! She then asked me who prepared my documents etc and told me they were prepared very well (so thank you guys! ?). She then told me that my visa was approved and they would process my passport and amarex should have my passport in a week!

Out by 1030am.

Very different experience for me. When I was applying for my student visa I remember being interrogated on a whole host of things. They didn't even ask for the further supporting evidence of our relationship. A little disappointed in that because I brought a musical Christmas card my fiancé sent me for Christmas- thought it'd be fun to have 3 French hens singing in the middle of the visa room.

Anyway, I'm so excited I can finally start preping for the green card. Anyone knows how long it'll take to be approved once submitted? Not looking forward to being jobless ?

Congratulations!

After submitting my AOS application, the GC came in around 5months. It may take a little longer (longest I've seen is around 6-7months) along with the application of EAD/AP.

You can start collating paperwork for AOS submission & remember to wait til you have your marriage certificate before you submit the application.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! Got my packet 3 on 4 Dec (when I was visiting my fiancé in the States) and now I'm back in Singapore, trying to process all the things.

I know that they recommend you bring a copy of the I-129F packet, I was wondering how important this is? My dear fiancé misunderstood when I asked him to make copies and only made copies of what I sent him, haha. So now I don't have what he sent in the packet. Will this matter at all?

I'm also waiting on his information for the affidavit of support. He's filled out most of it and signed it, but the information about me was filled in by me with my handwriting. Will this matter? I'm also going to be filling in his financial information.

Just waiting on that so I can return packet 3! Medical and COC are both done. I can't wait to get to the interview and reunite with my fiancé.

Hey morphobia! welcome to the family!

I think it depends on the country's embassy. As for SG, I brought the exact copy (2 files) of the I-129F packet but was not necessary, the officer did not take a look on it. What he needed was the affidavit of support, 3 recent photos together, pay stubs, tax returns, employment letter, his bank statements, if possible your own savings too if your fiance is new to the job or has margin line or over little of poverty guideline.

Did your fiancé fill out the form in handwriting too?

ediblecosmos: Grats to you! When are you going to depart? Things will slow down abit once you're here and file for AOS, and congrats to your upcoming wedding! Are you going to have a ceremony or just ROM?

Hi Roy&Chanel!

Thank you for your response. Yes, I'll be going to the US Embassy in Singapore (Singaporean here). I thought the affidavit of support was supposed to be mailed in with Packet 3 response form. Yes, it's partially filled up by him in his handwriting with his original signature.

I'll be trying to get the rest of the documents we need for Packet 3 over the weekend. He is sending me scans, and I'll be asking for him to mail me the originals after that.

Hi morphobia,

If you look at the packet 3 that was sent to you with instructions, in "second" it says obtaining the documents on this checklist, DO NOT send them to the office. What you need to send is the DS160 confirmation page, enclosure form to acknowledge and signed that says they have given you medical instructions and empty I-134 form and your original receipt that you paid for the fees (keep a copy for your own reference). You can mail them these already without waiting for your fiancé so that they can schedule you for interview.

Bring the SECOND section onwards evidence in person. (this is where you wait for him to mail you originals)

This part can be quite confusing, I didn't understand it either at first until previous posters helped!

If you need more info, you can refer to previous pages! Hope this helps!

Goodness, thank you! I thought that the "Enclosed:" section of the form referred to things I had to mail back and got so confused! Well, that's embarrassing, haha!

Thank you for the clarification though! I'll definitely mail out my Packet 3 on Monday, then.

haha no worries cos I had the same experience! I had to ask Veepaisal over here too! it actually meant enclosures to affirm that they have notified us about the instructions. It is indeed very confusing!

Yeap yeap you can send the packet 3 over, and while waiting for them to arrange for interview, you can collate whatever affidavit and information you need from your hubby to be!

Grats on your upcoming!

Hope everything goes well for you! Where will you be residing?

If all goes well, Missouri. :) We're trying to aim for an April flight, and I've been worrying myself sick thinking we have lesser time than we actually do, hahaha!

Thanks so much once again for the help!

Hello Everyone,

I have been directed to join this group (K1 Singaporean), and here I am. My fiancé got an RFE letter today and they asked for 2x2 passport photo of ours and a letter of Intent from me/evidence of preparation of marrige.

My question:

1. Where can I go to take US passport photo format or Photo Booth. I did sent previously with I-129F form but I guess it's not enough.

2. We did not have any wedding preparation done yet as we do not know how long the K1 visa will take place. Can letter of intent from me be enough? That's what they asked from "beneficiary" LOI.

Thank you.

1) Use this website http://www.epassportphoto.com/95/Free/United%20States/Passport/step1

You upload your own digital photo, size it, and in return you get a 4x6-sized jpeg file containing four passport-sized photo. Print it out in the local store

2) You don't need details of wedding preparation. Letter of intent to marry with 90 days in USA.

Done with K1, AOS and ROC

Hey AU, any mall or HDB area photo place will have it, just tell them you want a US sized passport photo and ask for soft copy to put it into your USB thumbdrive, its slightly more costly than SG photo size, try to get a few because you will also need them for Adjustment of Status and its expensive in US, I paid 44 USD for my adjustment of status passport photos which I should've buy a printer and photo papers.

When I was being asked if I had any plans, I told the officer I have researched wedding venues and photography for enquiries but not paid because I do not know how long K1 will take too. Letter of intent from your fiancé and yourself will be sufficient. Sample can be found here, you can use it and replace the address and name: http://www.visajourney.com/content/examples

I will do as per your advice. Can I scan my letter of intent and email to my fiance or I should fedex the original letter?

Thank you.
