Hi, its me again.

I've checked on the guide it says that we should apply SSN 2 weeks after arrival as the system needs time to process the records.

At that time after two weeks of my POE will be around 6 Nov.

Since I do not intend to change my name, should I apply for SSN after the court wedding? I intend to get wed on 10 November.

If I were to apply for SSN before marriage, do I need to go back and update for a new SSN or can I use the same one since there will be no name change?

Secondly, we've just found an apartment and will be leasing it. Should I use that address for my immigration arrival card if there is any or any other paperwork?

Or should I still indicate the same address as stated on the K1 application?

If you don't intend to use a SSN for anything prior to your wedding then I guess should be fine? You can then after obtaining your marriage certificate in the mail, & your EAD then head down to the SS admin office and apply for a card.

If you do it before your marriage, as mentioned before, yes you will need to go back and get a replacement card IN your married name & if you applied for EAD (legal permit to work), your replacement SS card will show you're legal to work with the permission of DHS

Use the address that you'll be staying at on your immigration card.

Original. The signature must be originally signed otherwise they prob will not accept it.

Best to get everything that your fiance is providing all orig (esp the ones with his signature)

okay i just spoke to a (rather rude) lady at the consulate. i think she might be the receptionist so she might not be the best source of information.

but she said that "all documents you submit to the consulate must be original copies"

does this mean i need to furnish the original NOA1, NOA2 as well?

this is making me nervous as the interview is so close and the weekend is approaching.

Dont take it to heart, even I spoke to a rather rude person when I called to enquire stuff previously.

All documents needed to provide to the consulate upon your interview has to be ORIGINAL. That means your fiance has to Fedex the entire lot of HIS information (bank statements, pay stubs, etc)

NOA 1 and 2 are not needed. Your packet 3 should have all the information listed what you need to collate to bring for the interview.

Follow the checklist. If you do not have it, kitthekat uploaded a copy in the beginning of this thread.

sure, thank you veepaisal. ive told him to mail everything to me first thing in the morning tomorrow.

anyways for the evidence of relationship, for the interview i was planning on bringing:

- 2-3 pages more of pictures

- printout of tickets and hotel bookings of our last trip together in July

- screenshots of our google chats

we usually use line to talk so i dont have a clear cut way to show that we communicate everyday. you think I should add anything else?

If your fiancé had already bought you a ring, perhaps ask him t provide you the receipt? Or simply just wear it to the interview but yeah what you have is good enough. No cellphones or electronics will be allowed inside the consulate (bag has to be checked in and left at guard house; first inspection before entering). So print them all out.

Looks like once you recvd the documents from your fiancé, everything should be set & good luck for the interview!! One more step til you're over with the K1 process!

hey guys!

interview is tomorrow. starting to get the jitters. i have everything ready but wondering if i should bring more documentation?? (because...who knows!)

1. Evidence of relationship - Will the embassy have the evidence that we have already submitted previously (for the petition) or should I print out copies and bring them with me to the interview as well?

2. Should I bring my licenses or bank account statements (Singapore and US bank accounts) or any previous paystubs (I studied and worked in the US for a while and that's when I met my fiance)?

Hey junehar,

From what i understand they send the entire application packet over to the country you are at so the evidence your fiance provided initially they should have on file. But yes, please bring additional evidence.

Yes, bring whatever statements to add on in case your fiance is considered on the poverty guide line.

Hi Guys,

I have sent my Packet 3 back last Friday (30 Oct 2015) via speedpost and I tracked that it has indeed reached the embassy. I had completed my medical exam last thursday too and they told me results will be 5-7 working days (but prior to my medical exam, I was told over phone that 3-4 working days is all it takes).

Now I am anxious to wait for the interview date. May I please confirm with you what Packet 4 contains? I presume it also has the interview date? I check this forum link you sent and there was one lady who received the interview date via phone call. I am really anxious because:

1) if they notify me by mail again (like for packet 3 they said it was sent out to me on 26 aug but i only got it 18 of oct after several follow-ups, they say it was lost in the mail and i pleaded for them to resend it).

2) I have business trips sometime this month. I plan to email the consular office to inform them.

Any thoughts please guys? Much appreciated!
